I’m tired of living in a culture that over-values selfish, obnoxious, attention-seeking, fake people and takes advantage of/dismisses the people thay genuinely try to make this world a better place WITHOUT an ulterior motive.
You know what annoys me? How Muslims have adapted ideals of the west. The west is not our home. You may have been born here, sure the west may have given you so much to be grateful for but keep in mind that we are still a minority. We are still looked at as aliens in a land that calls us it’s “citizens”. We are merely guests here, and as the news grows more and more negative on Islam in the west, we have overstayed our welcome.
We must strive to return to our roots, to our people and culture, to a place where the Athan will be announced 5 times a day and sisters can wear the hijab without criticism.
I yearn to go to a place where I can freely practice my religion without either being tagged as a terrorist, extremist or an oppressed woman.
