Sometime last year, @humansofny ran a story about a lovely Irish woman named Mary who was in danger of losing her shop, @maryosirishpub HONY fans crashed the website ordering the pub’s signature Irish soda bread scones. When the dust settled, Mary O’s offered the option of scones shipped to your home, and/or a meal for a local family. (I went with both.) My scones arrived today, along with homemade raspberry jam and real Irish butter. They are some of the finest scones I have ever had. Buttery and just the right amount of sweetness. Flaky, yet dense enough to satisfy, with fat raisins throughout.
