Nobody is going to like this answer, but it is what the facts suggest 😩 My opinion is: Neither of these options. Weller was puritanically, artistically against bands reforming and artists taking a creative step backwards. This is the guy who broke up The Jam at the height of its popularity. He was also publicly critical of The Stone Roses reforming.

As for jealousy, my read is Weller was NOT jealous of Liam. He was still friends with Liam post-split. Beady Eye did a benefit concert for Japan with Weller in 2010/2011 and Weller modelled for and had a clothing line for Pretty Green in 2010/2011. What a cunt (affectionate). This was immediately in the wake of two years after the split. Liam and Weller were friends. Not at the level he was with Noel obviously, but during the Oasis days Liam played Weller one of his songs first so that Weller would tell Noel it was good. And Pretty Green is named after a Jam song.

Weller’s not at the reunion cos Liam has NOT forgiven him for the remarks against reforming and would most definitely try to break Weller’s legs, lmao. But prior to Weller making those comments, I think they were on good terms.

But also my unpopular/controversial opinion re shipping Weller/Noel, is the less anyone knows about Weller, the easier it is to ship. Because the facts suggest that while Noel might have been crushing/lusting hard and Weller does love Noel a lot, Weller is not actually into men sexually that way (but likes the attention) and also there’s very little chance he was Daddy dom-ing Noel. If he was Daddying anyone, it’s Miles Kane, who Weller got close with after Weller’s dad died and Weller had become sober. Sorry Noel. Sorry gcest fandom. Sorry @viceroymarx
