grew up in ny and was raised by his grandmother with his two other brothers!! never really knew his parents growing up

got married before he was 30 and now he’s... having second thoughts... knows he rushed in to it all those years ago and he wants to be single again to focus on himself again

soooo…riley is my baby, she’s had a bit of makeover aka a new FC!! ‘cause i was in the mood for a change but tbh she’s still pretty cool.

she was born to mr and mrs turner, she’s the youngest of two and she has a big sister.

her family upbringing wasn’t the best, her mum left when she was a kid. it was never explained why she just kinda dropped off the face of the earth.

riley believed that her mother was suffering from mental health problems that just weren’t addressed, so she left. but her dad has never really spoken about it to her.

it all just feels really weird to riley, why would someone walk away from their family like this?? WHO KNOWS?? 

her mother’s family got real mad at this and riley doesn’t really speak to ‘em. yeah, she doesn’t really get on with any of her family members TBH. which is sad. 

honestly, it didn’t affect her dad very well either, he has a job in business and he spends most of his time away. her older sister moved away for college, she wanted to get out of the shitshow that was the turner household.

once her sister was done with college, she met a guy and ended up staying in her college town, starting a family. riley is yet to meet her new family members. 

she’s a big old rebel, she’s always doing dumb stuff and getting herself into trouble, luckily she’s not been arrested just yet.

she’s still very much living her teenage angst stage, she’s very angry at the world and she can’t quite believe she got so unlucky with her family. 

riley still lives in the family home, she’s the only one that uses it. she actually thinks it’s pretty depressing but she’s trying to liven it up with bright artwork etc.

she often lets friends stay over, ‘cause she doesn’t like being on her own. she always tries to surround herself with people. 

she’s somehow managed to get a job at her local bar, she really enjoys it and somehow she hasn’t got fired yet.

she’s pansexual!! and she’s never really been in a serious relationship, she doesn’t have time for that kinda thing.

i. ｢ some info about him ｣

okay, so first of all, tejay is actually born and raised in boston but his family would come to wellcliff in the summer and stay in a vacation house!

his parents are both from london, and the parekh family actually has a pretty big import/export business that runs globally. tejay’s parents weren’t the only ones in on this, it’s been in the family for generations from before the time india was under colonization by the brits, and continued after the parekh family mostly immigrated to the u.k. (parekh is a gujarati family name that pertains to the merchant/noble caste of the caste system, and the name itself means ‘assayer’).

the family business was really booming, and tejay’s parents moved from london to boston to continue to grow the business’s influence in the united states. tejay’s grandparents (paternal) tagged along. shortly after the move, (death tw coming up) tejay’s grandfather passed away due to natural causes.

tejay was born so rich he could have anything he ever wanted, and he did all the way until elementary school (death tw coming up). unfortunately, his parents were going on a roadtrip for an anniversary and were tragically killed in a weather-related car accident.

at this point, tejay and his grandmother were the only remaining parekh’s, and some cousins back in london took over the whole business leaving tejay and his grandma out of the family fortune.

they moved permanently to wellcliff without the funds/savings to keep paying the mortgage in boston (especially since his grandma was really making things work of retirement funds and savings).

tejay used to get into fights at school from a really young age, and was always acting out as a means of dealing with his pain. he ends up being pushed by his grandma to join competitive sports (basketball) and the debate team instead to keep him in a different kind of fight.

on weekends, she would keep him in to listen to vinyls and watch bollywood films. he loves music from the 1950s and 1960s because of his grandma lol.

in high school he became popular, politician-like asshole. we all know ‘em - student body president, debate team captain, member of the basketball team, secretary of nhs. he was in all the academic activities and also he was getting all the girls with his winning smile and popularity.

he grew up, and was able to tap into a college fund that enabled him to attend harvard through law school. yes... he was a poli-sci major, yuck.

came back to wellcliff and now works under the mayor as the city manager. his life is one long episode of parks and recreation and he is always flashing a good politician smile in case the cameras are watching.

he actually gets really good press throughout wellcliff and likes his job, but what he really wants is to get his grandma and him back up to the point where they’re highly regarded and rolling in the dough.

he hates the smell of gasoline with a passion, loves the ocean dearly, and has a record player that’s been in his family for generations!

i really want some folks who attend his town halls or disagree with his politics and really drive it home to him. like “sir, i do not agree with your intention to replace the water fountains in the park with hydration stations”

❝ ALL ABOUT STACY ❞ → a little biography and some stats

okay, where to begin... stacy is a wellcliff native and so is her mother, their family has been in wellcliff for a few generations now.

her mom is a big hippie and passed that off onto stacy (her middle name is meadow, like how much more down to earth can you get). this means she loves astrology, tarot cards, doing little rituals like sage cleansing and making moon water.

raised by her single mama, but always had big hopes for meeting her dad or knowing what he was like. unfortunately, her mom knows exactly who he is and he SUCKS in actuality (or that’s what he seemed like during their one-night stand :/)

she still lives with her mom in their family victorian, and like sometimes when she has a bad dream she still crawls into bed with her mom lmao

she is an amateur surfer (even though she’s been doing it her whole life, she’s only won smaller competitions and it isn’t a full time gig), her day job is wearing a little paper hat and passing out greasy hot dogs and fries to tourists on the boardwalk.

she is super chill, so chill it can get scary sometimes... if someone tries to argue with her, she’s the kind of person to take a really calm tone and not react. sometimes she’s just slow to react to things in general and her only reflexes are on the surfboard.

stacy can be... como se dice... disloyal and forgetful. she never remembers her friend’s birthdays, she will always be the one to cancel plans last minute if it means something else exciting is going on, and she also will never pay you back if you lend her $20 for lunch. she’s not doing it to be mean, it’s just the way she is.

probably hasn’t read a book since it was required by school, unless it’s her horoscope or surfing zines. she was never very academically oriented, she prefers to just take life as it is and not interrupt it with extra information like books, or even tv/movies.

uses a lot of surfer slang and her voice has that kind of surfer accent (not as deep as the turtle from finding nemo, though, lol)

she hates mushrooms, loves oysters, smells like lilac and salt water, and she loves a pair of dangly star earrings that she’s always wearing when she’s not in the water.

please come party with her because she truly is nothing but fun, living her best life, and spending her days on island time even if she’s not on an island...

born in wellcliff, chandler’s been here her entire life-- her mother left when she was a baby so for the first few years of her life, it was only her and her dad living in a small shack on the beach 

they weren’t the richest, but they were happy, you know? he taught her a lot of things and they spent a lot of their time surfing, combing the beach, being quite content, all the while exploring the nooks and crannies of her hometown 

when she’s twelve, her father goes missing, police don’t look too into it, writing it off as him, a blue collar worker, skipping town and being negligent to his daughter, chandler doesn’t believe this for a second 

she moves in with her aunt and uncle, and they’re okay, but chandler begins a pursuit to find out what exactly happened to her dad-- to the point where for a few years, it’s all she thought about 

she let her grades slip, began pulling away, not appreciating life as much as she used to, definitely worried her aunt and uncle a ton 

when she’s seventeen, she’s convinced she’s found him, and runs away from home, only to return when a police officer (called by her aunt) finds her scoping the woods for clues 

she gives up-- for now. she just has to come to terms with the fact some things cannot be solved. so she’s stored it away in the back of her mind, trying to focus on getting her life back on track 

right now she works at bean there, done that, and when she’s not there, she’s usually camping at ainsworth park or at the beach-- she doesn’t necessarily want to go to college, but she’s saving up to see the world. something she wanted to do with her father but she’s determined to finish what they couldn’t

aidan thompson has hardly ever known a life outside of wellcliff. it’s where she was born and raised, only ever leaving when she went off to college in boston.

she’s the older sister to a set of twins, a brother and sister, who are 28.

growing up, aidan was super shy and anxious, but she had a core group of friends from elementary school that stuck all through high school. when aidan came out as a lesbian her senior year, her friends were pretty supportive, but they kind of lost touch after parting ways for college.

her parents weren’t so supportive, though. aidan was never really close to her parents, but since she told them she was a lesbian before leaving for college, their relationship has been even more distant.

with that in mind, aidan can’t really explain why she moved back to her hometown after college (in her own apartment, though, definitely not with her parents). maybe a sense of nostalgia, or a fear of the unknown...or maybe just that there’s nothing she really wanted to do with her degree, and how she really loved working the bar at sparky’s over the summers. so since graduating, that’s where she’s been.

college was pretty transformative for aidan, though. school was boring to her, but she graduated with a degree in sociology, ‘cause she found it interesting enough. she really only went to college to appease her parents, and to get out of the small town to find herself--and she did. she made a group of lgbt best friends and found her true love, marijuana, both of which helped her get over the shyness and anxiety that had burdened her so much thus far. the self-confidence she left with was definitely more important than her degree.

she loves her job at the bar, loves joking around with all the regulars and the fact that she can just have a good time--especially when someone who she’s able to flirt a little with comes in.

some bonus facts

aidan is a lesbian first and foremost. her lesbian identity and community is one of the most important things to her (and it’s something she misses about college)

she’s pretty much always at least a lil stoned

people say it’s ironic that she’s a bartender but doesn’t really like alcohol much (besides beer and the occasional glass of red wine)

she loves space and the stars, and is super interested in astrology (sagittarius sun, taurus moon, scorpio rising)

For all his life it has been Luca and his baby sister Maria against the world. Somehow came between him and his sister you know you’re about to get end up hurting. 

Their parents were absent at best, not because they wanted to be but because they needed to work seemingly around the clock to pay the bills.

It came to no surprise that their father died when they were kids from a heart attack, their mother swearing it was from stress. Luca stepped up to look after his family

But where he lived in Mexico work was hard to come by, so he looked at his options in the states towards the end of high school. With his grades, he managed to get a scholarship for a three-year college that his mother still brags to anyone and everyone about. He went to the States regrettably leaving his family behind. As he studied he worked and with every paycheck money was sent home to support them.

Life progressed well. It was hard work, he ended up taking on three jobs post-college to pay for rent in his small Queens flat, have his own life, and send money home. He felt like it was balanced though because he dated, had friends, felt like he was apart of a community even if his family was back in Mexico. His sister had a kid, a little boy Gabriel, which Luca never forgot to send extra money for. The dad was apparently unknown but Luca always suspected something was being left out of their weekly conversations.

Until it wasn’t. Around 8 months ago Luca picked up the phone to a distressed Maria who could barely form sentences for the first hour. By the second she could piece together small details which eventually formed into a messed up situation. Maria had fallen in with the wrong kind of people, and the worst of the worst was Gabriel’s father. In their time together Maria had done some things she wasn’t proud of, and somewhere along the line a lot of money had gone owing and now Gabriel’s father was demanding it back or who knows what might happen to her family members.

Luca’s first instinct was to fly back to Mexico to be there and handle it in person but with no income from Luca in the State paying the guy back wasn’t even optional. The only way they could even suggest paying the sum off was if he kept sending money. Except more than he already was. But Luca lived in Queens, with high rent and not enough money to send away for what Maria needed.

So life changed a lot in a short amount of time. He sold furniture until he only had a bed, looked for more work even though hours in the day didn’t give him time for it, he stopped buying the on-brand food and experimented with just how much ramen noodles he could live off. Still, the balance was off and he quickly realized New York wasn’t the place to be. He needed to go smaller, with lower rent but decent pay, so he started putting feelers out with any friends to see if they knew of any opportunities.

And then Bash contacted him. Bash had just moved to this town where his uncle had lived. The guy had died and left behind a fishery where Bash needed extra hands. The work was hard labor but decent pay, and there was a hole in the wall apartment that barely cost anything compared to New York rates. Luca didn’t need to be told twice, it was a sign and he wasn’t denying it. So after trying on his own for 2 months he moved to Wellcliff where he’s been for the last 6. 

Now he works at a fishery. Too bad Luca hates the smell of fish.

At the beginning, it was just two friends working long hours doing messy work. Except they weren’t the hours Luca needed, that he thought was up for grabs, so he started showing up for shifts he wasn’t assigned for, and well, it turned fish wasn’t the only thing being moved. If it had been any other point in his life maybe Luca would have walked away completely, not wanting to know what dirty Bash was in, but he needed money desperately, and passing through suspicious crats to even more suspicious people seemed like a much higher pay grade. So Luca talked Bash into cutting him in, saying he’d work harder than anyone else, he already was.

Now he turns a blind eye to drugs, guns, god knows what else that comes through their way and helps Bash keep things running with the real business of fish. He struggles a lot when animals come through in deliveries, often neglecting his work to make sure they were well fed and taken care of, almost like he was silently apologizing for what part he played in their probably doomed lives. It isn’t a job he’s proud of, guilt and stress seem into his veins every day that passes.

There’s really only one thing keeping him together. His boss. Maybe Bash saw the desperation that met his own, maybe he just took pity on him, but they were in this together now. They have shared too many secrets and worried thoughts with one another late at night to even turn the other away.

To everyone else Luca is kind, he looks out for people but also knows to mind his own business. He can be a bit quiet, too much on his mind to talk, but when he’s out socializing he does his best to be engaged with everyone.

He’s currently living in a bare-boned studio, if you’d even call it that, and tries to keep his spending down as much as he can so the money can go to Maria to keep her and Grabriel safe. 

He’s the type of guy to feed a stray dog by the docks and become its unofficial owner.

His favorite spot in town is the old lighthouse where he breaks in sometimes to go sit at the top, not caring how many holes he has to dodge. Sometimes he’ll sit up there and just scream when no one is around, hating the life he lives but feeling like there’s no exit for him in sight.

He’s everyone's friend yet if you hurt his family or friends he won't hold back. Been in plenty of fights growing up, not afraid to join another.
