Hwan  stares  at  him  for  a  second  too  long.  It’s  the  voice  that  gets  him,  nothing  like  Minchae’s  usual  polished  smile  for  cameras  or  the  easy  confidence  he  wears  at  brand  events.  Right  now  he  just  looks  tired.  Standing  there  in  one  of  those  expensive  coats  with  his  hands  shoved  into  the  pockets  like  he  expects  to  be  turned  away.  Hwan  should  say  no,  he  knows  he  should.  Every  time  he  looks  at  Minchae,  there’s  something  familiar  that  catches  in  his  chest  before  he  can  stop  it.  The  eyes.  The  mouth.  The  way  he  tilts  his  head  when  he’s  uncertain.  Too  many  pieces  that  line  up  with  memories  Hwan’s  been  trying  to  kill  for  months.  Aerin  ruined  enough  already.

The  headlines  are  still  everywhere.  Fans  pretending  to  defend  him  while  picking  apart  every  old  interaction.  Reporters  waiting  outside  schedules,  his  managers  telling  him  to  “stay  calm”  while  his  private  life  gets  ripped  apart  online.  And  Minchae,  whether  he  means  to  or  not—keeps  standing  in  the  middle  of  all  of  it  looking  like  a  ghost  Hwan  never  asked  to  see  again.  He  exhales  sharply  through  his  nose,  dragging  a  hand  over  his  face.  “You  really  know  how  to  make  this  difficult.  You  know  I  shouldn't  let  you  stay.”  he  mutters.  Hwan  clicks  his  tongue  under  his  breath,  already  annoyed  at  himself  for  caving  before  he’s  even  said  the  words.  It's  not  in  his  nature  to  reject  so  easily.  Or  maybe  he  has  been  feeling  lonely  lately.  Who  knows,  but  Minchae  looks  like  he  can  get  him.
