CORRECTION
About a month ago I posted, in reponse to a "number/question" post, that I didn't really have any pre-race traditions or rituals. Oh, maybe eat a light breakfast well before the run, but no oddball things such as putting on my shoes in the opposite order from how I put on my socks or anything.
I do have a couple of things I do with every run or bike ride, though.
First of all, regardless of the weather I always wear my amber glasses. My eyesight has problems that even prescription glasses don't really fix. I wear these glasses for eye protection more than anything; they have stopped more than a few branches from poking my eyes, and I am just as glad. I wear them so regularly they are as much a part of my "look" as my orange shirt and black shorts.
I also carry with me the towel in the above photo. I picked it up at a hotel in 2016 as a giveaway souvenir. The small print says something about "Captain Obvious" and I don't know who that is, but in addition to keeping the sweat on my face under control, the message on it is one I like to think of as my own as well.
