Korrekt, den Titel habe ich mir nicht selbst ausgedacht, der ist echt und deutet schon an: Ein Film, den ich mir, wenn es die gute alte Sneak Preview nicht gäbe, nie im Kino angeschaut hätte – aber es hat sich gelohnt.
Der junge Fakir Aja verdient sich in Mumbai als Straßenkünstler (und Taschendieb) sein Geld. Seit frühester Kindheit beschäftigt ihn die Frage nach der Identität seines Vaters. Erst nach dem Tod seiner Mutter erhält er erste Hinweise, die ihn nach Paris führen. Dort lernt er die bezaubernde Amerikanerin Marie kennen, doch bevor sie sich näherkommen können, verschlägt es Aja in einem Ikea Schrank auf eine unfreiwillige Reise quer durch Europa.
Der Film lebt von den absonderlichen Abenteuern Ajas, der mit seiner naiven, aber charmanten Art schnell die Herzen des Publikums erobert. Der Zuschauer wird auf einer kuriosen Road Trip durch die halbe Weltgeschichte entführt, und kann die absurdesten Geschehnisse beobachten. Die Botschaft des Films ist süß und romantisch, knapp an kitschig vorbeigeschrappt. Daher bekommt der etwas andere Film (und nein, ich wiederhole den Titel nicht nochmal):
