They both lived this character. Thank you XuNing and Ziyu for giving us this performance. Thank you lord for giving me the chance to witness this masterpiece. No matter how many times I watch these two scenes, the pain only deepens. Only few can pull off such reactions from the viewers. And these two did it.

They did a good job tracing XiaoShuai’s painstaking transition from traumatised to trusting, from wary attraction to unconditional surrender, from suspicion a man like Guo ChengYu would surely hurt him again to responding to his own instinct about the man he had come to know and reaching out to him fully embracing his desire.

ChengYu also went through his own long haul metamorphosis; if he wasn’t a transformed man he would’ve spent months scheming to coerce Shuai Shuai into bed, which would’ve been frustrating for one and alienating for the other, but he’s no longer that guy. After all, what’s good about having sex with someone who isn’t totally into it - even if they said Yes?

Not sure where they’re going with this kidnap plot but I am aware they have taken a totally different tone with this *real* kidnapping in Revenge Love than they did with the *fake* kidnapping in Addicted. I regret this in a way but I think they wanted a low intensity episode after the previous two just for viewers’ mental health.

Wei Wei introducing Chi Cheng to his Dad as his wife with his usual levity was a nice touch.

I like how the dialogue explicitly emphasises the nature of the power shift between ChengWei that equalises and steadies a formerly hierarchical and adversarial relationship. So many narratives aren’t even aware this is important scaffolding that a redemption arc or a happily ever after has to have underpinning them in order to qualify as a BL.

Can’t believe we’re almost at the end of this journey - with maybe one or two more rivers to cross? Luckily all four have come a long way in their growth stories and are solid enough as young couples as to be reasonably well prepared to face this journey.
