#weelchair

I'm a sucker for sibling relationship and having a drill writing Jinx & Viktor, I'm glad peoples are enjoying it too !

I have lot of thoughts about Viktor and weelchair. Like, he totally was needing it but never had one. Did the writers ever considered this possibility ? I'm not sure. Weelchair characters are still very rare, and even more rare is character who sometimes use the weelchair, sometime another mobility aid, because it's a thing most abled peoples don't know about. Like the trope of "Oh you are in a weelchair you must be paralysed" huuuu...

In my fic "Let's meet in the middle" I made the absence of weelchair a conscious decision by Viktor because of the ableism of Piltovers peoples :

“If I was using one, that fucking pity party around me would never end. It’s already difficult enough” “What do you mean ?” Viktor rubbed his forehead against Jayce's shoulder, searching for the words. How could he explain this ? It wasn’t like it was something really obvious. It was the little things. The way people looked at him. Holding a door or wanting to take things out of his hands when he was perfectly capable of doing all that on his own. People wanting to help him walking up the stairs and getting offended when he refused. All of that was, most of the time, more annoying that the pain itself. The pain he could manage, adapt. People around him and their unsolicited willingness, he could not. It was already difficult enough to get himself some basic respect in his current state. Had he been in a wheelchair, he would be fighting a losing battle.

Things are going differently in this AU, even if Viktor isn't enthousiastic about the weechair (for now).
