“Thotties” Just a little shoutout to my little FullerTones crew. Thanks to Steph being a nag about auditioning two years ago, I got the chance to meet and get to know all of you beautiful people. Steph, so caring and nurturing and always good for a shoulder to cry on. Justin, you help keep things real for everybody and help us all remember that flaws are ok and perfection isn’t everything. Megan, your pure energy always brings a smile to everybody’s face, and sometimes it helps me remember not to be so serious. Natalie, the calm and warmth that you radiate draws people to you, because you make us feel protected and cared for. “Oscar” Everybody needs at least one friend in life that’s just real with you. Oscar is that friend. He’s honest and blunt and some people may see it as him being an asshole, but I appreciate his honesty so much. Where Paul is the friend that will help me back up when I fall, Oscar is the one to look at me and say: “see? What’d I tell you? Ok, so what did we learn?” He’s known me longer than any of my other closest friends and he knows things about me and the way I feel without me even having to say a word. And he tells me things I need to hear, even when I don’t want to hear them. I love you, Oscar. “Turn It Off” Started my day off in not the greatest mood, but I can say that these two definitely turned it around. Sometimes I get in my head too much and start to overthink and get in my feelings. But then I just have to get dragged around SoCal with some loved ones, laughing and enjoying the day while we run some errands. Learn to appreciate the importance of just letting go. “LOVE DROUGHT” Last night’s show was all about love. Love in the face of adversity. Love in spite of hardship. Love that grows stronger from the problems that arise, that isn’t torn down by them. Love is eternal. Love is blind. Love is powerful. And love also hurts. That’s the duality of it. As is the duality of man, so is love. Without the pain, we’d have no feeling. Without the sadness, we don’t learn to appreciate the joy. I’ve learned a lot about myself and about love itself over the last year. How I show it. How I receive it. I’ve made many mistakes out of fear and naïveté. But if I’ve realized two things, it’s that I’m capable of loving someone fully, and that I am deserving of receiving it fully. “Paul” I can’t really say that I’ve ever in my life had a friend as close as you. Like, it’s honestly not an exaggeration when I joke that you’re the love of my life. You’ve been such a constant source of support for the past year and more. You’re my confidante and you’re always honest with me about what I need to work on to be a better person. As much as I joke and complain, I’ve loved every minute of our past year living together and getting closer to you and getting to know you more deeply. You’re the best friend I have in this world, Paulito. Basically an older brother to help guide me through this mess called life and pick me up when I fall. I honestly can’t thank you enough for just being you. Everything you do is filled with such purity and light and it spills over into everyone you come in contact with. I can only thank the heavens for blessing me with your friendship. I talk a lot about constantly feeling lost and losing that feeling of “home” when my family issues first started, and then again when I hit that rough patch of depression at the end of last year. But you feel like home, like I have a place I belong again. Basically, value your platonic relationships. They’re important. “Ayo, sis!” I know that I’m the older one, and should therefore be the one setting the example, but I’ve learned a lot from this beautiful young woman. She’s taught me so much about perseverance and accepting the good with the bad. That whole “fuck y’all, I’ma do me!” bravado that I put on, I got from watching her grow up. She’s stubborn as fuck, but that’s just a family trait. She takes no shit, but does no harm. I hope that I can always be the big brother she needs me to be, but also that she knows just how much she inspires me to be better and do better, always. The strongest woman -nah, PERSON- I know. She’s never given up on me, and I appreciate it more than she knows.
