The sky is not falling today. Acceptance and perspective are my friends today. I accept things as they are. I am looking at “What is?” rather than “What if?” Perspective is helping: looking down at my situation and seeing this as just a blip in the grand scheme of the things. Perspective-taking is helping me build empathy and compassion: walking in others’ shoes, feeling the feelings, thinking the thoughts, imagining myself in their situation. I’m realizing that the reactions I we have are largely fear-based: thinking, fortune telling, mindreading about the future. This quote has gotten me through many a dilemma, and I lean on it again now: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” — Viktor E. Frankl May you find your own “space” for growth and freedom today.
