At the end of the war, Hermione realised that she had always been in love with Harry. The offer to go with him to die snapping her out of the haze of the last residue of the potions that flooded her body these past two years.
When Harry is taken to the hospital wing to be cared for by Madam Pomfrey yet again as is she admitted alongside him, to cure them of the numerous injuries sustained in the battle along with their malnutrition, Hermione checks on the blood reports that comes up for Harry. The results shock her and her suspicions are confirmed when she is able to persuade Kreacher to get her any and all of Sirius’s diaries, her brief stint at Grimmauld having made her learn of the habits of the dead Marauder.
Within the old pages is a tale of deceit and heartbreak, as Hermione realises that Sirius was in love with Lily too, however he couldn’t find it in his heart to confess his feelings to her knowing how much James wanted her. It was at the end of their seventh year that Sirius learned that James had used love potions on Lily but was unable to do anything. The woman he loved was a muggleborn with no legal rights and the culprit was a Pure Blood scion and worse, his dearest friend in the world whose family had been kinder to Sirius than his own had been. Sirius had however seen James truly love and treat Lily and so had kept mum, watching from afar the two settle down and have Harry.
She now realised why Harry never picked up her clues. He was a child borne of love potions much like his nemesis; unable to feel love.
She knew that she couldn’t change the past anymore but she couldn’t allow Harry to live a life without love even if she wasn’t the recipient of his love, so great was her love for him.
Pouring over tombs of ritual magic and recalling love being the strongest magic possible in the world, with her knowledge of arithmancy and ancient runes; Hermione Granger created a ritual that would allow her best friend to feel love and poured all her feelings for him into it.
The next day Harry Potter awoke a changed man.
No longer feeling hollow and empty inside, something he forever did - he was no longer forgiving of Molly for insulting Sirius in his own home, of Ron for walking out on him repeatedly throwing his insecurities and jealousy repeatedly in Harry’s face. He felt disgusted by Ginny whose words he recalled as she proclaimed she only liked him for being a hero, not realising what it cost him. Remembering her reaction to a 11 year old Gabrielle, as if Harry would stoop so low.
The Weasleys proclaimed him as arrogant and haughty.
Once again Hermione was the only one by his side.
He left with her to go get her parents from Australia.
No longer could he however find it enough to be merely her friend, for now he wanted more.
He wanted Hermione Granger - all of her and until he had her heart for his just like he had her friendship followed by her body as he owned and tasted every single inch of her as she screamed his name while he filled her with his seed he wouldn’t be satisfied. He wanted Hermione Granger for his lover, partner, wife and the woman who would bear him his children and he shall have her.
