"That's quite the itinerary. Think we have time for a pit stop in Miracles, Montana?" "What is in Miracles, Montana?" ... "Do you think she'll recognize us?" "Yeah, I'd take that bet. I'm all in." –Wynonna Earp 4x12: Old Souls
MELANIE SCROFANO as Wynonna Earp
Thank you for speaking out about the Waverly short hair controversy. I kind of dropped out of the fandom a few years ago because I saw fans being transphobic towards Dom and biphobic towards Kat and it really soured the “we’re the most inclusive show with the most inclusive fandom” experience because it’s actually not that inclusive of a show or fandom. So when vengeance was announced I was excited but apprehensive because I knew that there would be comments if Waverly wasn’t exactly the same. I personally think the short hair makes sense for the character, like as you and previous anon said hair does not equate to masculinity or femininity. Not only that but we also haven’t seen the movie and don’t know the context, too many people are ready to jump to conclusions. There are so many reasons why Waverly would have short hair and they would all make sense in context, even Waverly being Non-Binary.
I guess I somehow missed the transphobia, but I remember the biphobia wave well so I may of just blacked it out.
My choice of wording in that post was definitely holding the hands of those who are upset, because I understand that some people hold baby Waves very close to their chest. My personal perception of the character, I completely agree with you anon, it fits Waverly well. Equating to androgyny or not. And just as a note: Simply the thought of NB waves gives me heart palpitations 💀😍
Queer people need to do better as a whole, and this Earper community needs to hold itself to the standard it puts on the show, inclusivity wise.
So earpers I urge you, before making any comments on the appearance of any of the actors, or their characters. Think to yourself ‘would I say that to Emily Andras’
And if the answer is no, stop typing. Maybe wait until we get the movie to pass too much judgement. Cause y’all be hateful out here, for what. We supposed to all be lit they’re coming back and come together as the community we have painted ourselves to be.
