„Today‘s a very interesting day. We are shooting episode 8, which isn’t completely written yet.“
Credit goes out to my work bestie who upon hearing the story immediately thought of the gru‘s plan meme template.
Guess who's back to being a single girlie two days before Valentines day 😋
Apart from the average voter: Going Postal, by Terry Pratchett.
The plugins actually are a thing lol, they’re on github
yeah its right next to the space time continuum model that github keeps in their storage locker lol
because @beebymoonlight is a god among men, she explained to us peasants that this sort of program is very unlikely to exist.
no cut, you all need to read this before yapping behind anon
what you see above is the metadata (which is your data)for an anonymous ask.
and here is the metadata for a non-anon ask.
see how there are urls linked and not linked? why is this all relevant to a tumblr api/plugin that could read "metadata" and tell you who is behind an anon ask? because anonymous data is hidden behind an "encryption key," as bee puts it. she explains:
if there even is metadata about you still included somewhere in the page source, it's definitely encrypted. encryption keys are incredibly safeguarded in software engineering, and it is likely under lock and key in tumblr backend code somewhere, not publicly available. if it did somehow get out, maybe for a brief moment in time people could decrypt information about you, but that would be a huge data leak and a much bigger problem that tumblr had.
public tumblr APIs can only work with the data that they have (the data that you can see in your inspect/page source). since there isn't any data there that has any value about an anonymous asker, then any tumblr API or plugin that claims to "de-anonymize" an ask is false advertising. you can't de-anonymize data that doesn't exist.
similarly, to use something that does do all of this would most definitely violate tumblr's terms of service under:
No Use of Tumblr Data for Surveillance, Profiling or Manipulation Purposes
No Phishing, Malware, or Identity Theft wow, are you doing all of that? how embarrassing! are you also doing things like this?
anyways, even if, let's say, this is all false and there is a plugin that does exactly what you claim. let me spell some things in regards to tumblr for you:
you can only send an ask from your main blog. you can choose to not answer asks. you can delete asks. you can report anonymous asks. you control your tumblr space. nobody else does. you can and should block/report anyone who is mean to you or makes you uncomfortable.
and finally if this kind of extension does exist, don't be shy now, drop a link. show the class!
