one of my goals for this year is to make a dedicated solo zine to wolfblings, and I've been working on the plan of it for most of December!!!
here are the sketches for the character refs for my Pearl and Joel's design...
this zine is basically going to be dedicated to all my lore and AU for wolfblings, and my designs differ pretty big from canon and have some significant details that I love abt these two. As well as, it'll be a pretty big trauma exploration and exploration of siblinghood, growing up together and growing apart, and memory/lack of them... basically i gave them trauma and i get to fuck them up abt it.
this is only the sketches and they took me 2hours hahaha but its important for the rest of the zine for them to have a continuous design!!
this is what each page represents / will contain :
character sheet of Pearl; Variations will include Scarlet Pearl (curly haired), in underwear, kid Pearl (curly haired)
- moth, eyes and moon motifs in design.
- typically masculine or androgynous, i.e no corsets or makeup, visible muscles. simpler clothes.
- wolf-shifted Pearl
- horizontal spread, no or minimal shading (skin and hard shadows)
- side profile + eye shape
Text to include :
- Pearl "Pearlescentmoon" Lunala
- PCOS, Autism, lactose intolerant
- bigender boygirl (doesn't know it yet), she(/he)/it, bilesbian
character sheet of Joel; Variations will include Secret life Joel, in underwear, kid Joel (Avery)
- mastectomy scars, scars from life series and "cracks" looking scar.
- "scrungly", not put together, over the top
- tiger-shifted? ...
- side profile + eye shape (half circle on the bottom being the circle)
Text to include :
- Joel "Smallishbeans" Lunala
- Intersex, AuDHD, shellfish allergy
- pangender trans man, he/it/ae, bigay
anyways, drawing kids is hard and im going to be doing a good amount of it here.
I'm calling this zine Wolfblings Zine / WBZ for now, I'll think of a more 'non-literal' title later on.
In the late 1920's MGM Studios started sending their famous lion mascot on promotional tours. But when they got to Boston in 1932, this particular lion ("King Leo") had enough and flipped out in WBZ studios TWICE causing pure chaos and panic.
King Leo was simply supposed to roar over the airwaves.
After they got him under control, they continued with the plan, which was insane, as soon Leo escaped and rampaged once again.
steve-o arm around chris…

Some great color for a grey and rainy Friday
It’s raining in Athens today:
so to brighten our moods, we’re taking a peek at a sunny day of the past. In 1955, someone at WBZ-TV Boston filmed the Monte Carlo Fair that took place locally in either autumn or spring, based on the clothing, and Sid Pike saved the film. Outdoors in sunlight is the perfect place to shoot on Kodachrome, so you really get to see the hyper-real colors, and boy are there a lot of colors in this short reel. Here are a few frames.
The folks who brought in all the fair equipment were the Lagasse Amusement Co. out of Haverhill, Mass.
WBZ personnel were on the committee for the fair and I’m guessing the event may have had a benefit component. The auctioneer in one scene was one of the station anchors:
If you can tell us more about this event, please do!
“I’m not looking to become a world champion nor do I desire fame. As long as I know for myself...that I am the strongest.”
October 1969.
