I feel like a good chunk of people who played we become what we behold in 2020 when it was trending went "WOWIE THAT GAME SURE IS MESSED UP" and kinda missed the point. Not everyone, I don't wanna be negative, but more people than I would assume.
nicky case is actually one of my favorite game devs of all time i Love indie creators who casually change peoples minds forever as their job Ohhh my god. i advise everyone to play at least two nicky case games because they're so good. my favorite games from them are We Become What We Behold and Adventures with Anxiety because those are the games i started with, but there's also Coming Out Simulator (which is more personal and semi-autobiographical) that's just as emotionally devastating.
if you show their games to someone there's a chance they've already seen them before :P yeah nicky's pretty famous, but i don't think enough people look into their work!!! they make the most mind blowing shiz and manage to lay out complex/boring ideas in a way simple minds can understand (i find this impressive!) i aspire to be like them and Hopefully open someone's eyes one day
i actually knew about Nicky's work in 2020 when i found Adventures with Anxiety, but i didn't dive deeper into their stuff until January 2024. i have NO REGRETS!!! truthfully, i never played wbwwb in previous years, i knew of its existence though. ever since i played it for the first time BLIND 6 months ago i've been a changed man. i am crazy Obsessed with it and start shaking violently whenever someone mentions it No i even start frothing at the mouth whenever i see a circle and a square next to each other I'm normal you guys i'm normal!

the build up to the ending of wbwwb was so well done . like nicky said in one of their blogposts, they tried to weave the characters' stories into your heart so the ending would be far more devastating AND IT WORKED. god dammit nicky Making me overly attached to small buglike critters again you're too good at that /lh
it boggles me to hear wbwwb is tagged as comedy because it definitely didn't Come off as comedic to me lol! i like that it's intended to be dark humor tho, knowing the game wasn't made to be 100% serious lifts the weight off of your shoulders. hhaaaaha all those guys died just for funsies! Still tho it tells a great story that wouldn't be as impactful if anyone else tried & it's important to think about its true meaning every once in a while
