-so the swap is just the first years and 3rd years are the swapped. Umemiya, Hiragi, Momose, Mizuki and Tsubaki are all in the same class (maybe 1-1)

-the 2nd years aren't at Furin yet (i plan to fill that gap with mere OCs XD)

This AU is obviously Umemiya-centered and bare with my AU crafting because this is the first one I made for Wind Breaker, I think.

Umemiya has lived a very rough life, past around orphanages because of how unwilling he was to cooperate. Being labeled as hopeless and a lost cause because of his trauma, PTSD and depression slowly deteriorating the bright boy he used to be

he is then finally given a break when he arrives at Furinen Orphanage at 13 years of age but the damage of being called mindless (they were the ones that drilled into him that all his decisions lead to despair, if not for himself then to others), hopeless (his meds not working *cuz they're not even proper anti-depressants in the first place), and broken.

Umemiya spends 2 years at the orphanage without feeling any emotions, like he shut and sealed them to keep the hurt at bay. Not properly processing it like his canon counterpart did. the day he enrolls at Furin arrives. Yuki-sensei promising, bento placed in Umemiya's hand that they'll never turn away from a boy in need like him.

when he arrived at the classroom 1-1, he was bombarded immediately. His white hair that faded to black- was it natural? *Umemiya would just nod hesitantly*. They all gave off such distinct feelings that Umemiya was able to grasp their names and personalities. (Umemiya had developed face blindness/Prosopagnosia)

Hiragi reminded him of sharks, scary but technically friendly. Tsubakino was the warmth of a strong mamabear. Momose was short but he often showed off drawings to Umemiya and Mizuki catalogued almost everything, even the latest season of Super Sentai.

What truly surprised him was that how well put-together a delinquent school building was. There was a designated wall for grafitti that gets painted over twice a month for the artistic bunch of Bofurin so the entire place isnt covered with paint but the proud insignia of Bofurin was still hung at the front top, the classrooms are inspected every year for chalkboard that needed fixing or windows that needed replacing, etc. All the boys must help clean the school at the end of friday classes. They even check your medical history to adjust your patrol routes and 'roles', the Representative was particular about it.

speaking of the leader, Sakura-senpai was quite the enigma. His speech merely consisted of the Oath in that one sign in Makochi town, "Remember, those who cause pain, who bring destruction, who holds evil in their hearts will be purged!" and Umemiya felt genuine chills down his spine for the first time in his life when his entire class spoke in unison "BY BOFURIN WITHOUT EXCEPTION!"

Through out the first day, of course their was an introduction seminar, mostly led by Kiryu-senpai and Nirei-senpai, two of the four Heavenly Kings.

Dancing AU:

Sakura’s favorite dance style is capoeira with breakdancing flares. He’s been rejected from dance schools and classes for his borderline violent dancing, but Furin is different. He finally has the space to learn other dance styles while also getting to meet other people who like dancing the way he does.

DeAged Sakura:

Sakura takes a nap in an empty classroom and when everyone finds him, he’s a child. He will never live this down, but his classmates are having the time of their lives doting on him without physical repercussion. Also Shishitoren makes him model their jacket and Togame realizes that he would literally die for child Sakura.

Furin Childhood AU:

Set ~10 years before canon and everyone is in grade school (but pasts are not canon compliant bc I’m only on the anime rn). Sakura transfers into Furin elementary school. There are shenanigans, Sakura being accepted, and everyone excitedly throwing hands with one another.
