CW: Fanon characterization + OOC
I know a lot of people like to play around with the idea that Batman is a cryptid or vampire BatFam. I absolutely adore those writings.
However, it had me thinking, what about cryptid/ vampire Alfred? I haven’t seen any content on this. I could absolutely be missing out on a whole anomaly Alfred world of content, but this could absolutely work.
Fanon wise, Alfred is often joked about being immortal (setting aside the death of 2019), I haven’t seen much angst on the matter.
Though there is no shortage of angst potential; I, being the sucker for happiness and good fortune I am, think there is a lot of cute moments that can come from this.
Perhaps the butlers suit is possessed? Much like a ghost in a haunted mansion, even while Alfred is resting, the suit keeps working. Or maybe it is an Alfred who doesn’t need slumber? Who works consistently throughout the hours of the night without any fatigue or needs of sleep?
What about an Alfred who instead of being hired by Martha and Thomas, came with the manor instead? An entity bound to serve whoever is under the Manor’s name. Perhaps Alfred has a choice, and it is of his free will to serve the master of the manor. If he likes you, he will serve you; if he does not, then he serves the manor.
An Alfred who cannot leave the manor without a “host” or company, which is why whenever he does shopping someone, or something, must accompany him. He doesn’t need to possess said noun, but it must accompany him.
I feel there is much to be explored with this idea. We haven’t even gotten into how the relationship aspect would look like with each BatFam member. I likely will in the near future. I encourage anyone with abnormal Alfred idea’s to write them. I doubt I am the first person to come up with this idea so I do hope that tumblr will see this and guide those posts to my “For You.”
