This morning we entered #First Quarter #MoonInSagittarius which is a great time to harvest herbs for drying! 🌒♐️. For most harvests, third or fourth quarter (waning moons) are recommended, but for aromatic and medicinal herbs, many people prefer to harvest in the #WaxingMoon Why is this? During the waxing moon, water tables rise, following the moon's gravitational pull. This means that the herbs' liquids--including the essential oils chock-full of delicious or medicinal compounds--rise from each plant's roots and into the leaves and flowers, which are at their most potent when picked during this time and will cure quickly under the dry sign of Sagittarius. The moon remains in Sagittarius through tomorrow, so harvest any lavender, thyme, chamomile, or other garden herbs now to get ready for the winter ahead. Today I harvested from my nettle patch; nettles are high in iron and are an important ingredient in my daily tea.
