Chapter 1

Holly's pov-

The airport is bussier than usual, the sound of people talking and kids screaming fill each gate. This is the moment that I wish I could stay in the calm lounge, my flight was boarding soon. I am going to Australia for the grand Prix, and too see one of my close friends Kimi, I am going to attend every one of them this reason. I need am taking a break from modeling for the next year and when searching for something to do, Andy suggested joining him this season. I didn't need much convincing when he told me how many places id get to go to, I already travel alot for work but there's more variety at the formula 1 race weekends so it was a no-brainer honestly.

" Can I where just see your boarding pass and passport please?" The voice of the kind woman quickly snapped me out of my trance

"Oh yes, here you go"

I hand it to the lady, I'm so tired I could fall asleep standing, I pulled an nighter last night haven't taken any naps today which with my track record is very. I want to be able to sleep on the flight since it is 16 hours long, the timing is convenient cuz I'm visiting family in Italy and flight would be more like 20 hours if I was back home in Ireland. Once I board the plane I make my way to my seat, since it is such a long flight, I booked a first class seat for the first time. I sit down and instantly notice the difference between business class and first, The seat practically turns into a bed which is exactly what I needed. Once everyone finishes boarding the flight attendants do the safety and emergency procedures. The plan starts moving, it taxis to the runway. This is always my favourite part of a flight take off, I look out the window and and see everything going faster and faster we start lifting gently off the ground and suddenly we're flying. I hold off getting comfortable until the pilot I hold off until the pilot the turns off the seatbelt sign, as soon as that announcement was given, I knew exactly what I was doing, I got a bio dance face mask the box said that it takes for 4 hours and what better time to do it than on a plane, I'd washed my face before I got on the plane so thankfully all I had to do was put it on. It comes in two parts so I put The bottom half on first then top making sure it covered my face correctly, I put the seat back, whipped out a blanket and put on some NCIS I had so many episodes download of this in preparation. Though I hadn't got to watch many because as i expected, I was asleep quite quickly once we got to two the cruising altitude, for a whole 16-hour flight, I was practically dead to the world.

I woke up with the sun in my eyes and the flight attendant announcing that we are landing soon,

Feel I feel really refreshed. And no the only thing I can think about is how excited I am for the next 10 months, travelling, going to the grand Prix's, supporting my friends, parties. This is going to be one hell of a year.

Once the plane finally landed It took a whole 30 minutes for a gate to open, about 30 minutes. Honestly felt like the longest in my life, I may have slept through my whole flight but that didn't stop me from wanting to get off the plane, there was just too much to be excited for.

Once we finally deboarded my first stop was to the bathroom, to take my collagen mask off, honestly, I was so shocked with the results my skin looks so soft and shiny. I fixed my hair and made it my way to baggage claims, I only had a 20 kg suitcase and a backpack, I honestly think that's enough, I actually fit quite a lot of outfits in one bag and I can always mix and match them whenever I need to.

I took up my phone and texted Kimi

@Holly_maria: I have finally landed, you free later?

I called myself a cab and headed to hotel, thankfully it was only a 15-minute drive from the airport to the hotel.

The very refreshing sight of seeing no paparazzi outside the hotel was enough to know that I made the right decision coming here, I'm not naive enough to think that it's going to stay that way but for now I'm taking the win.

The check-in process was a breeze and I quickly get the key to my room.

Once I open the door The first thing I saw was the large bed that barely made the room feel any smaller, the second and arguably the most important was the balcony. The view was amazing it You could see the marina, yachts of all kinds were docket

I get a notification from Kimi

No more than a couple of minutes passed before I heard a knock on my door, looking through the peep hole and seeing Kimi, I open the door and let him in,

"That was really fast, I must say I am impressed Andrea"

"Don't be, I was across the hall, looks like we're neighbours.

It's good to see you Holly"

He gives me a quick hug

"It's good to see you too Kimi"

That short hug was enough for me to notice just how much he's physically changed since last time I saw him, he is all muscle.

Oh my god no I shouldn't notice shit like that, snap out of it holly.

"how've you been?"

"Honestly pretty good, hoping I my first gp win this year, what about you? How was the flight?"

I walk over to the sofa and he follows

"I am good, definitely think my year off was the right choice. The flight was good slept through the whole thing"

Probably not the best idea in retrospect but I'll deal with that later

"You text me at 3pm and that was a 16hr flight. How are you going to sleep tonight?"

Kimi points out the flaw I've been avoiding in my actions with ease

"I know, If I'm honest I didn't think that far ahead I'll figure it out somehow.

When is your free practice tomorrow?"

He shifts in the seat

"First one is at half 12 and the second it's at 4,then I got like 30 or 40 of team meeting"

"That's excitinggg, hopefully tomorrow will be the start of an amazing 2026 season"

My superstitious ass reaching over and knocking on wood after I say that

Kimi laughs at me a little

"You're not going to jinx me holly"

"Good then there is no harm"

I shrug my shoulders, I am not even sure I believe in that but better safe than sorry I guess

We fall into endless conversation, talking about work, a mutual friends drama, family, and plans for this season.

Next thing I know it's 8pm and I'm starving

"Have you ate yet?"

I ask Kimi when he's scrolling through his Instagram trying to find am old friends account.

He looks up at me

"No not yet, saying that I am pretty hungry"

"Staying in or going out?"

He looks at me again and I just know what he is going to say

"It's up to you'

Goddamit, I knew it was coming, the saying many women including me dread

"Noooo, I never know what to pick"

Okay if it's 8 o'clock and you need reservations for most of the restaurant, maybe room service? We could maybe go out tomorrow or Sunday after the race to celebrate.

"Wait if we get room service we can chill and watch something like we use too"

"Okay I like that, wheres the menu?"

We sit on the bed watching Rio on my laptop, we had to make a deal because neither of us could agree on a movie,I choose first movie and the he picks the second so it's fair, we can only watch 2 anyway because we have to be up early tomorrow and its already almost 9, Kimi as wanted to watch cars after. I was fighting to stay awake at 11 despite my long sleep on the plane. The cars movie ended and Kimi sat up

"I gotta get some sleep, I need to be up early tomorrow, you still going tomorrow?"

"Yes, I'm excited to finally see everyone driving in person instead of only on a screen."

I stand up, walking with him to the door

"I'll see you tomorrow then, holly"

"I'll see you tomorrow Andrea"

I walk to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face, finally taking my bra off after what felt like an eternity climbing into the bed a faint smell of cologne fills my nose, and I can't help but to feel a little bit of comfort from it.

I make sure I have set my alarm and have a little doom scroll on tik tok before I eventually doze off.
