I had a lot of fun finding/using artworks with circles, lines, and shapes to symbolize different worlds/universes and/or the passage of time...
Artworks used, in order:
"Several Circles" by Wassily Kandinsky (1926)
"To all appearances, it was a hand of flesh and blood just like my own" by Odilon Redon (1896) — A ghostly hand that fits the plot. The artwork's title goes with the fic so well too...
"(#2) (from series, Quantum)" by Garo Antreasian (1966)
"The story of the sun, moon, and stars (1898)" by Agnes Giberne — inspired by the summary "Somewhere along the way, Draco realizes he's been thinking in lines, when he should have been thinking in circles." The original artwork comes with a caption 'Stars whose distances are well-known'... I really feel that it fits since Draco was named after a constellation... Also, the star-circles have numbers on them, which could be interpreted as H/D through different ages...
Max Brückner’s Collection of Polyhedral Models (1900) — Exploring different parallel universe versions of yourself... the more things change, the more they stay the same.
"Construction (SM lg71)" by László Moholy-Nagy (1924) — some mild spoilers for the fic! inspired by the phrases "...plot a path through the many universes such that he would never die." / "flickering through timelines? Just getting glimpses, really" .
"Fish Magic" by Paul Klee (1925)
"The Terrace at Saint-Germain, Spring" by Alfred Sisley (1875)
"Arrival of the Normandy Train, Gare Saint-Lazare" by Claude Monet (1877)
"Charing Cross Bridge: Fog on the Thames" by Claude Monet (1903) — referenced in the fic. i try to pay attention!
"Boy with Kite" by Candido Portinari (1947) — Harry is a precious little lamb. more elaboration here
i’ve been making penguin classics-style covers for fics i have saved on my kindle, as inspired by zeziliazink and bubu0h’s works!

It had been years since Harry thought about Draco Malfoy. His life as an Unspeakable was a non-stop freight train running on adrenaline and good luck, and there wasn’t much time for much else.
After Voldemort’s death, the rise of Neo-Death Eaters had swelled across the globe. The void left behind by one all-fearing Dark Lord had been filled by a scattershot mess of hate groups, sure that they were the next big thing in Blood Supremacy or werewolf culling or—in his most recent case—forced marital bonding.
The Death Eaters had been poised to slip through the cracks of yet another wizarding war.
It had all gone to shit after the war. What with Death Eater money greasing the wheels of justice and dolling out leniency like it was going out of style. Harry’d been so sure that nothing would change.
Until the old families had done something so bizarre, so unexpected, that no one outside of the gilded walls of their monstrous mansions could explain it. The pure-bloods started getting divorced.
And there was Draco Malfoy, self-important, enterprising bastard that he was, ready with a law degree and lineage pure-blood blue, to pick up the pieces.
And to make a killing in the process.
Hello! I hope your new year is off to a great start!
I'm looking for a fic, I can't imagine it being more than 50k. It's post hogwarts and the following is all I can remember
- Harry testifies for Draco and after Draco tries to talk to him but Harry says something along the lines of "people are watching/can see us" and Draco spirals a bit with, 'of course he can't be seen with the likes of me'
- Harry is low key pining after that, I believe. Draco tries to keep his distance but ends up often being in the general vicinity of the hogwarts crew when they're at the pub.
- I specifically remember a bit where Draco is having a bit of a hookup in an alley behind a pub with some guy but when Draco tries to hold his hand (or something similar) the guy brushes him off and repeats the exact sentiments Harry had at the ministry "not where people can see"
- eventually Harry/Draco get together and Draco is nervous about the moment Harry realizes people will know about them and Draco tries to temper it but when Harry asks what's wrong, Draco is like "people will see" (or whatever the line ACTUALLY is) and Harry's like "yeah. I want them to...?" And then that's the end.
I know that's pretty vague and kinds describes half the fics with that trope but... couldn't hurt to ask, right? Thanks for all you do! ❤️

Im reading a story by waterwings ("In What Universe?") and I feel like I was sleeping on this author tbh this is my third fic by this writer and every fic is definitely a winner :D
Hi anon! Great author rec, I find their stories very refreshing and original (algo long! 70k is my ideal long fic length these days). I haven’t read the one you mentioned but I’m familiar with some of their other works, like A Pocket Full of Stones and The Unknown Door - they’re both amazing!
