Day 2951, 13 July 2026
House Mill in Bromley-by-Bow, London. It was built in the 18th century and during its life it has been a watermill and gin distillery.
The famous Sodor Watermill and its iconic stone arch bridge, seen in the classic Thomas & Friends TV series, were loosely inspired by Daniels Mill. This actual, fully functioning 18th-century watermill is located along the heritage Severn Valley Railway in Shropshire, England.
The classic Sodor Windmill, best known as the star of the show's opening credits, is a creative composite of several traditional British post mills and tower mills. Its design closely echoes that of historical UK structures like the Pitstone Windmill (a 17th-century post mill in Buckinghamshire managed by the National Trust) and the Shirley Windmill(an 1854 tower mill located in Croydon).Â
