There's this really old story I can't decipher about a hero who happened to meet a young avian boy who was the heir to this tribe, but got separated from them. Would you happen to anything about this ancient story?
Oh yes, I do happen to know what story you're referring to. This would the tale of the Watarara. I read this story many times when I was younger, and had it sang to me just as many times to.
As the story goes, the Watarara were a bird like tribe very similar to the Rito, who ride the seasonal winds, and the heir to the tribe got separated from them, ending up on the world below, where he met a Hero of Time.
This young prince was... very difficult. He was pampered, sheltered, and very spoiled. He was a liability in every sense of the word. He caused many problems for the Hero, and his little companion, but he never abandoned the prince. He was determined to get this prince home, so his tribe didn't leave him.
Danger in the winds struck, the prince was scared, he couldn't fight, but the Hero urged him to safely, prioritising the princes life over his own, and inspiring courage within him during this difficult time.
When the danger was thwarted, and the Hero fell towards his certain doom, the prince leaped to try and save him, growing his wings that he lacked, inspired to be courageous by the Hero. Although the prince wasn't strong enough to save the Hero, he still tried, and his efforts allowed his mother to save the both of them.
With the prince and his mother reunited, they set of to ride the seasonal winds, the prince promising to return the next year to see the Hero, with them parting ways in the end.
It's a pretty nice story, but later on I came to realize how sad it is, as this was the last time the Hero and prince saw each other. From the other stories I've heard about this specific Hero, he would suddenly disappear, never to be seen again. Meaning the prince would never be able to fulfill his promise to see him again.
I often wonder how the prince must of felt, finding out the person who inspired him to be better, and the one he wanted to see above all else suddenly disappeared without a trace.
I like to imagine the Watarara prince, and the Hero reincarnated and reunited again in another life far into the future. I often imagine Link and Tulin, as the Hero and prince, finally finding themselves again after multiple generations being apart.
