#washu

Over on yonder Twitter this week, Japanese users started a hashtag called 見た事あるアニメ2つをごちゃまぜにする見た人もやる ("Mita koto aru anime futatsu wo gocha maze ni suru mita hito mo yaru," roughly translated as Mix two anime you've watched, and then people who have seen these two have to mix them too.) Naturally, over here at Digimuyo HQ, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to spread the agenda join on the fun!

So I went ahead and did two new pictures in the span of...two days! That's a record.

First one is the eternal duo (in my head, anyway) of Koushiro and Washu! I originally was going to draw Tentomon until I realized that as Motimon, he might be more willing to join in on the insanity that is Washu's little creatures hyping up Washu's ego. Invent in your heads whatever happened for Koushiro to react the way he does. (It won't be the last time.)

The second picture is more in line with what I've seen other posts in the hashtag, which is basically a series-swap of sorts. In this case, Juri dressed as Pretty Sammy Julie! Because if Sammy comes from Sasami, and Misa comes from Misao, then Julie...should obviously be from Juri, no?

If you want to know how that works:

砂沙美(sasami)->ささみ(sasami)->さみ(sami)->サミー(sammy/samy)

樹莉 (juri)->ジュリ(juri)->ジュリー(julie)

(Technically, it should be July, if I wanted to follow the strict JP four-letter orthographic guidelines but also that's pronounced differently and the Pretty Sammy people definitely made sure to--okay i'm getting sidetracked here)

Calumon obviously gets to be subbed in for Ryo-Oh-Ki. Ryo-Oh-Ki wears nothing when he's Sammy's sidekick but I had to give something to Calumon for this. I don't know why, he looked so weird without something.

I based this version of Juri's swap on the Tenchi Universe version of Pretty Sammy, which I think is pretty cool and understandably doesn't get a lot of love. (Mainly that it's only seen in one episode and like, three pieces of official art.)

"But Viy," you may have asked, "didn't you already have a bunch of pictures with Ken and Sasami (and others) that qualified easily? Why did you make two new ones?"

Well...yes. But also, I dunno mang, most if not all of the pictures in the hashtag aren't ship-based and I'd like to think I know how to read a room lol. Plus, it was fun! I needed a headstart on Washu and Koushiro images anyway, and I played with an idea I had for Juri for a bit through this hashtag. Fuhuhuhu~
