it's the last stop on linhardt's tour of holy-blooded individuals on the ship. (as far as they currently know; they highly suspect there's some hidden variable they have no possible way of accounting for yet, like the four apostles in fodlan's crestology.) he doesn't have a lot for this knight. as far as he knows, nal's bloodline is pretty cut and dry, and though there's a few suggestions it may cross over into isaach's bloodline, linhardt doesn't know exactly who did that or why.
well, he'd hope the reason was affection, but that's not how reality always plays out.
“excuse me,” he calls, his voice thready by now with how much he's been speaking. “you have holy blood, right? i think you're lex dozel, if everything i have is correct, which means…” he pauses briefly and consults his family trees. “minor nal blood. have you ever tried to use -” another pause. “- helswath?”
"Wow, for a second, I almost didn't think you were reading my name off of a list," Lex answered sarcastically, though he didn't seem malicious or upset in any way. It was just a means by which he could make a joke. Hopefully he hadn't picked a person who had difficulty understanding sarcasm to make that joke towards. That would be pretty embarrassing.
"Nah, Helswath ain't mine to use," Lex stated simply, giving a small shrug of his shoulders to punctuate the sentence. "If it were, people'd actually give a shit about me back home. Belongs to my old man, and one day it'll belong to Dan. Uh, my brother, Danann, that is. Half-brother. Never was allowed to touch the thing, though my dad does have a painting of me as a baby trying to hold Helswath while he had me in his lap. That's the closest I ever got to it. Hope that's not too disappointing for you."
Lex really wasn't sure what this all was about. Clearly, this kid had all of the information already. He should know Lex would be incapable of wielding Helswath. It wasn't like just anyone could wield it, after all. That would be ridiculous. Regardless, the kid knew about major and minor holy blood, which meant hew knew the answer to his inquiry before he even made it. What was the point of even asking?
"What were you hoping for? It sounds to me like there's not much you actually have to learn from me that you don't already know."
