@w-40k-2 I AM SO SORRY I DIDNT SEE YOUR QUESTIONS AND REBLOG LIKE A MONTH AND A HALF AGO I AM SO SO SORRY, BUT NOW I SEE IT I CAN ANSER A BIT BETTER REGARDING OUR FAVORITE WYRDSPIDER. Which starting off with his name, I originally was going to use *warp* spider but that is very clearly and Aeldari unit that my best friend is quite fond of.
His name being Kythanos actually stems from either the mobile game Tacticus or from the T.S Codex. I had just taken a gander at both of them and really liked the name. Ve’hex as well was something I thought of that sounded whimsical enough.
When it comes to his place within the Cult of Prophecy he is one of the many exalted sorcerers who listens to the warp and as the 10th edition codex puts it “guided by incessant whispers that bleed from the warp. From these they divine outcomes of multiple futures and seek out events that can be twisted to their purpose.” (pg 17. T.S Codex) The Cult of Duplicity I had also chosen on a whim as a more upfront ‘oh he was backstabbed by the backstabbing cult’ It could really be replaced by any of the other cults within the legion. And seeing as we’re already on the subject of duplicity, his staff!
It has retained its former look of having a maroon/burgundy twisted grip with an astronomical look spearheading the staff with rotating discs inside it being cradled and effectively held up by the type of stand that holds a globe, the top of it representing the Cult of Duplicity’s heraldry.
Dipping into his backstory, he was raised on a planet similar to Prospero before joining the Thousand Sons, Kythanos was originally supposed to be an events coordinator of all things which lends into his tendency to scry the future for his own benefits and get everything in order such as setting up the Sekhetar on planets years before they are required or even throwing his own Rubric brothers and scattering them among vital points before having lesser sorcerers (or himself) awaken them.
Kythanos adores Prospero and tends to keep his main abode similar to his living quarters from before the Heresy, always wishing there was a way to go back and save it. The person he misses the most is actually Magnus the Red, his own genesire who he wanted to be like, and even in the 10 thousand year gap between 30K and 40K, tried to be more like, but decided his time was better spent amassing his own army of Rubrics. Kythanos actually did receive the opportunity to rejoin Magnus when he recalled all of his sons before the Battle of the Fang.
And out of all of his cousins and their legions, he DESPISES the Space Wolves the most, and loves and spends most of his time with the Emperor’s Children (pre-heresy) which is where he gets his ‘pretty’ look from. Once the flesh change was reactivated he simply used a minor illusionary spell to alter his facial features, letting his body remain a mess. Kythanos is also called the wyrdspider because he actively changed his body further and mutated it to grow extra limbs, 6 arms and two legs. With spending so much time with the EC he actually did receive a handful of blessings from Slaanesh of all Chaos Gods, to which he also devotes a decent amount of worship and energy to, mostly forcing his forces and the enemy force fight/move to the rhythm of various beats and music (I had envision it was akin to Ramalama Bang Bang I love that song and was listening to it many times when painting.) Kythanos doesnt hate Tzeentch either he just.. prefers to ignore Tzeentch…
In terms of other members of the cults and his relationships uh.. it’s still a wip, I’ve been focusing a lot on my BA Successor Chapter.
My lil sorcerer is not patient, never has been patient, and most likely will never learn the lesson of patience is a virtue unfortunately. And all battles he fights are technically victories in his mind because it’s usually have the Imperium waste their resources or collect a certain artifact that someone else needed/wanted.
He doesn’t get out much, but he loves to visit desert planets that remind him of Prospero.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE THAT IS ALL I HAVE FOR TODAY I’m still crafting up a bunch of headcanons and lore for him so not everything is fully thought out, and again, I’m trying to focus on fleshing out my Successor Chapter as a whole rather than touch up a few figureheads and space marines!
