So I get why they only use certain weapons for certain classes in game design. To be honest, I really picture Art wielding a shield and war hammer when doing the paladin thing, and the sword being a dueling / blood sands weapon. Among other things in actual middle ages combat a sword was just about the worst thing to be carrying if you were in melee combat on foot.
Also just the fun in design that you can have. Look at that thing above, can you see it in Ishgard with some Archbishop giving that to a warrior that is being elevated to a knight after killing some massive dragon?
There’s just an honest, visceral feel to the weapon that I love.
