Food for thought: sitting here thinking about what I now know; would Harry's wand have chosen him had he not been a horcrux? The Phoenix in question also leant a tail feather to Voldemort's wand, so what's to say that the wand didn't feel that and choose Harry because of that. Being said, considering book canon and not the movie, do you think Harry's wand was less effective after it was repaired given that the horcrux inside him had been destroyed? At that point, he had worked with the wand for 8 years, so it knew him and the effectiveness, if it did lower, would probably be only slight, but it is a possibility.
