Although the magician, the mastermind of the island, had not been seen for quite some time, it did not mean he was unfamiliar with the recent developments. One of these happenings had finally caught Maxwell’s attention, dragging him up from the darkness that he had let swallow him oh so long ago.

A certain pilot, a cheeky adventurer, had been making a slow but unique decent as of lately. A decent into madness was not an unfamiliar sight here on the island, especially with the countless times that Maxwell had witnessed the scientist lose his mind. But this case was different... It was not just a loss of sanity, but a human being entirely consumed with nightmare fuel. The ginger was even starting to call himself a monster, driving away the rest of the survivors in a fit of depression.

‘How absolutely charming,’ the demon thought to himself. ‘He finds himself to be a monster... Perhaps in a simpleton’s mind, but oh.. If only he knew the true definition.’

Before he could muster up a dark chuckle, the magician found himself lingering on his thought. In Maxwell’s mind, there was only one true monster on this island. And if this boy thought he was headed down that path, then he would need someone who truly understood his plight to keep him from making some grave mistakes. The same mistakes that a certain magician made so very long ago...

Perhaps... That one monster could try to use his remaining bits of humanity to prevent the same outcome for Walter. Perhaps...

Keeping his image still out of sight for the pilot, Maxwell summoned up a single white rabbit to hop into Walter’s camp. Perhaps the small creature could catch the man’s attention and put him at ease before the demon made his appearance. After all, what better way to start a magic act than with a rabbit?
