The holy grail of American Mk1s

These two etching prints show the two main directions of my project, movement through the car and emotion through the driver. The first print of the Golf focuses on motion, using rough, energetic lines and a blurred composition to make the car feel like it is speeding forward rather than sitting still. The yellow and red ink blend creates a sense of heat, speed and intensity, almost like the car is cutting through light and atmosphere. In contrast, the Niki Lauda print is more focused on emotion, especially through the eyes and facial expression. The colour choice again uses warm tones, but here the yellow and orange feel more atmospheric and reflective rather than fast, helping to emphasise mood and presence instead of speed. The etched marks and cross-hatching add texture and depth, making the print feel more expressive and personal. Together, these prints connect my theme of movement not just physically through the car, but emotionally through the driver, showing how colour, line and texture can communicate both speed and feeling within my work.

Went to Cleveley's car show this morning with a mate and my sister. The wind was horrendous but we persevered haha. I really liked this one. As much as I love my car, this is a far nicer golf than mine
