 i still wanna draw more, but for right now i have tidbits and food for thought:

the scars already there are from kuron

keith left with BoM not only bc he felt he was being pushed out by this new side of shiro that was dominating him out of his position as leader, but also due to the forms of punishment he was met with for every. single. slip up. he caused, and every time he spoke against what ‘shiro’ commanded

he didnt say anything bc kuron graduated with a degree in gaslighting and manipulation, he just wants keith to be better isnt that what voltron needs right now? voltron doesnt need a leader who doesnt follow simple orders..

while keith went after shiro, The Black Paladins episode didnt go as planned, while he was gone hagar sent out a command to capture voltron’s paladins, which worked after the mess kuron left behind

also keith gets his scar trying to protect another paladin (pidge comes to mind, but ill leave that open to change)

the wormhole jump was a trap to lure away the ‘weakest link’ (aka the one that believed the most in shiro and would put his life on the line to defend him and bring him home), so they were absolutely prepared for keiths arrival

“we have your paladins, surrender and take their place. escape will be met with the deaths of the paladins”

paladins are used as hostages, anything keith did in retaliation under galran capture would result in their punishments.

keith is stripped literally of his role as leader in a means of showing the paladins that voltron is no more and their last means of escape are now galra property, donning galra prisoner wear (plus they now see how willing keith is to bend to anything shiro throws at him, including demeaning punishments)

keith is sent to the gladiator rings frequently, but refuses to give the final blow, which always leads to more punishments

then they send out kuron as his next challenger, having had enough of this righteous bullshit keiths showing whenever he wins while showing mercy. yeah they’ve had enough of that, time to put keith back in his place and remind him of his place below shiro

keith severely loses (he doesnt attempt to fight back, only try to dodge blows that dont work since he isnt given a weapon and kurons got a metal galra arm)

they warn him the next time he disobeys and spares his challengers, they will send the paladins unarmed instead and bring out their strongest warriors with their weapons of choice

this is when keith becomes a killing machine, void of emotion, completely detached and exactly what the galra are looking for

lotor receives keith as a pawn to use in his new order to decimate the rebel fights and BoM

maenwhile kuron frequently taunts the paladins of what keiths latest kill streak is and lies that keith killed matt and various others

pidge is furious, as are the rest, and they at first dont believe him.

but then they get busted out by some BoM agents and learn keith Definitely had a heavy hand in the overthrow of the rebel’s main base and only a few made it out to safety with the blade, matt is MIA last seen at a location near keith’s bloodbath

Being apart of the Voltron Force fandom (and basically any form of Voltron that isn’t Legendary Defender) is mentally exhausting sometimes.

Aside from the “lack of content because the fandom consists of 12.5 people and an old shoe” people are CONSTANTLY crapping on the show. Posts like “OMG guys I found an old Voltron from like 2010 or something and it’s hideous lmao it needs to die lol” like we get it, it’s got awful animation, plot holes everywhere, character designs aren’t great, we’re AWARE of this. Some people just like things, a hard concept to grasp, I know. It’s rather annoying surfing the tag wondering what kind of hate you’ll find today.

Heck, it might actually means something to someone, it holds nostalgia for a lot of people including myself. I was around target audience age when it came out, I even remember the very first commercial for it on Nicktoons. It was probably 6 in the morning and I was on that early morning phase of “god I hate school” when I remember seeing something that vaguely resembled Voltron and some weird background synth that sounded like the original theme song. It lasted like 5 seconds or something, it honestly felt like a fever dream. My little mind nearly exploded. My father had introduced me to 80s Voltron when I was very little and it was so fun to watch with him and live in that moment and be invested in the plot. I rushed to tell my dad about it and he seemed really excited. Then it came out and I loved it like a brother. I felt captivated by the somewhat shady plot, which I did recognise had some inconsistencies but eh, you take what you can get. I remember setting aside special time to watch it with dad, recording every episode in case he was gone that day. Yes, I was a bit upset with lion switching and the cadets but I think everyone initially was to be honest. I remember seeing the last episode and thinking “aw man, what a cliffhanger, I can’t wait to see the next season!”

And then I waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. You get the picture. It never got another season. I was disappointed, especially since we were really left hanging. I gave up on another Voltron ever happening again.

And here we are, about 8 years later, and I can’t enjoy something without someone who has seen exactly one (1) screencap from the show and made a post to tell everyone how awful it is. Yes, you can dislike it! Just don’t take your hate to the point of “I’m gonna post about this and let everyone know how AWFUL this show is and how BAD it is and how much I hate it and it’s so STUPID and act like no one could possibly ever love that show and it’s an EMBARRASSMENT to mankind”

Okay, so. Here we go:

1) Klance Time ;)

I feel like Lance and Keith are both going to talk to each other a lot more this season. We’ve already established that Lance feels alone right now. Allura will most likely be trying to find a way to get the paladins safely back to Earth with Coran, Krolia and Romelle, Pidge and Hunk are of no help after teasing Lance about Allura. Keith is, to be fair, going to be helping Shiro recover. Lance will have no one to talk to, but since we’ve already seen that Lance feels guilty about not being able to save Shiro, so he’ll probably want to help too. Hence forth, Lance and Keith (plus yorak the cosmic space wolf) will being working with Shiro and catching him up on all the daily biz.

2) Um, Shiro and Kuron???

Also a whole lot of people believe that Shiro won’t remember anything. That is most likely false. The show runners already stated they feel that Kuron and Shiro’s consciousness and minds merged together when Allura revived our space dad. So, I’m just saying. Shiro knows what happened. But it will probably feel like a vivid dream, since he himself had not experienced it.

3) You might hate me for this but... evil Romelle :((((

Hear me out! Her backstory’s a little uh.. confusing. At least, what we see is. Her words make sense but what we saw didn’t really. For example. When the second colony formed, quoted by Romelle (I rewatched the episode), “Generations ago...” which is Altean generations, correct? But then, Bandor and Romelle are spotted in the crowd at the opening of the first colony. Second, she was found in a Galra base. My wishful thinking is that the creators just weren’t thinking straight with that scene. But, there is a small chance that Romelle might be..... a puppet like Kuron. I don’t WANT that to happen, she seems like a beautiful girl who would be a great sister to Keith and a wonderful addition to the Kogane family. But there’s a possibility and we know that the show runners would most likely do that to us. I would, however, love it if Romelle fought off the evil in her head and won against it, being able to see through Haggar instead of the other way around.

4) White haired Lance?

I feel that is Allura brought Lance back, shouldn’t he develop white hair? It might work differently than Shiro’s considering the fact that Shiro’s essence was in Allura for the time being. But maybe he’ll develop white roots or something..? I just want a bit of Altean Lance for the soul, okay?!?!
