β£ Taken on 13/02/2022.β£ β£ *β£ Rising formidably beside the Bay of Naples, Mt Vesuvius forms part of the Campanian volcanic arch: a string of active, dormant and extinct volcanoes that include the Campi Flegrei's Solfatara and Monte Nuovo, as well as Ischia's Monte Epomeo.β£ β£ Infamous for its explosive Plinian eruptions and surrounding urban sprawl, Vesuvius is also one of the world's most carefully monitored volcanoes. Another full-scale eruption would be catastrophic.β£ β£ More than half a million people live in the so-called 'red zone', the area most vulnerable to pyroclastic flows and crushing pyroclastic deposits in a major eruption. Yet, despite government incentives to relocate, few residents are willing to leave.β£ β£ To see Vesuvius from a safe enough distance, head to Castellammare di Stabia on the other side of the Gulf of Naples.β£ β£ ππΌπ ππΌ π΄π²π ππ΅π²πΏπ²:β£ β£ Take the train from Naples heading for Sorrento with 'EAV'.β£ ______________________________________β£ β£ #CastellammareDiStabia #Ig_Naples #Ig_Napoli #VivoNapoli #VolgoNapoli #TheHub_Napoli #ClickFor_Napoli #Italia #Italy #Vesuvio #Vesuvius #ItalianPlaces #Campania #IgersNapoli #IgersCampania #IgersItalia #BestDestinations #Jaw_Dropping_Shots #Splendid_Shotz #OurPlanetDaily #NatGeo #WhatItalyIs #DoYouTravel #FindItLiveIt #TravelAndLeisure #Living_Destinations #LonelyPlanet #ScenicLocations #Raw_Italy #Loves_MadeInItaly (at Castellammare di Stabia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaDjUDrMnJf/?utm_medium=tumblr
