BEAST WARS HEAD CANNONS p1
Frankly, I'm into this show. I'm into it up to the neck. Which means, of course, headcannon time!
Beast Wars Spoilers below
( Yeah, I know its a 20 year something show--Its still new to a lotta you folk, ain't though. )
WE DON'T KNOW THEIR NAMES.
The truth of the matter is, is that we don't actually know the real names to anyone in Beast Wars. The protoformers? Yeah, their names introduced is their names, because they're technically "born" adults.
And OP jr himself? Prolly that too.
But the others? Hell no. The names they adopt are just those they nicknamed or codenamed themselves based on their new alt-modes. We don't actually know what Cheetor or Ratrap or Rhinox's real names are. And if OP junior is anything like OP himself, then we don't know his original name either.
THE PREDACONS USE CODENAMES OF REAL AUTOBOT-DECEPTICON SOLDIERS.
BW Megatron isn't a decendant of Megs himself, but merely took on the name. Same with BW Scorponok--a far cry from Headmaster Zarak. Rampage's is actually taken from a Decepticon Predacon gestalt--bot who formed Predaking.
And of course, Dinobot took his from the Dinobots (Whom are autobots... unless something happened between Beast Wars and Gen1...)
Same with Inferno--an Autobot name, from a Gen1 Autobot no less.
Which leaves the continued "rule" that there was an original Terrorsaur, Waspinator, Archania, and Quickstrike.
Seems like the Predacons only name themselves after former Auto-Decepty Soldiers.
ANCESTORS MEANS TRANSFORMERS CAN HAVE FAMILIES.
Autobots and Decepticons are the Ancestors of Maximals and Predacons--that's been the number one fact of Beast Wars, making it a NextGen show.
And since Beast Wars follows itself up with both the Gen1 Cartoon and the Marvel Comics, mix mashing as it pleases, we can take the idea that Gen1's "Creator" lines in reference to parents, as facts.
Since we know, so far, that OP junior is an actual descendant of The Big Man Himself--that means Optimus Prime did settle down and "Created" kids (and if we follow Gen1--likely with Elita-1, but we're all free to speculate).
Rattrap did say that Arcee was his great something Aunt. ( I wonder what that means for Daniel Witwicky... Did he remain her Headmaster at all? )
Also... Arcee has Siblings??? Or do all the Female Autobots consider themselves sisters? In which case... which one was his Great Something grand-mammy?
THE AUTOBOT-DECEPTICON WAR ENDED CYBERTRONIAN CENTURIES AGO.
This is the part where I'm gonna have to take from the Comics, and say that a Cybertronian Year and an Earth Year, are two entirely different things.
BlackArachnia, whom was born on earth, would say Eons ago--because it would be "eons" to an earthling.
But the other claim, that it was 300 years ago, would seem fine by a human standpoint... if we were talking humans. 300 years ain't jackshit to a Transformer--the War went on for 9 Million Years, not long after the Quintessons were chased off Cybertron.
Our buddies in Beast Wars wouldn't be talking about Big man OP and Megatron like they were ancesteral gods if it was just 300 human years ago--OP Jr would prolly just call OP "Dad" at that point.
The original Marvel / Dreamwave Comics had marked a peculiar pattern when it came to Transformers measuring time--and that it came down to 83, or some variant there of. A Vorn is 83 years, a Breem is 8.3 minutes.
So let's just do some multiplication with Vorns in mind...
"300 centuries" Cybertronian, would be 24,900 years in human time.
I'd say that's plenty of time to have some honored ancestors and several civilization overhauls. wouldn't you think?
STARSCREAM
The reason he was in the passed too, is because he was on the Axalon under containment.
The reason he was under containment, was because of Protoform-X. After all, how would the Maximal council even know about Starscream's immortal spark, unless they had him and were studying him?
And what a perfect test subject too! Ramp up his history of betrayal and treachery and make that his only reputation, and no doctor, no hero, nobody, would come to save him from whatever the Maximals did to him to create Protoform-X.
Is it any wonder he was a lot more insane than usual?
THE CONCEPT OF SOULS
Do you really think that Starscream, whose spark was hanging around the Sol System after being blown off Earth, would let Dinobot pass on?
Or that Legacy Megatron didn't affect our Megatron in some way by effectively performing what could only be one of the most evil acts in the whole of Transformers?
( What else would you call forcibly taking someone's soul, the culmination of self being and awareness, as they're alive and unconscious, then shoving it into your body, while that soul struggled and fought and squirmed.. and fuckin hell, it was screaming. I can tell you--I sure as Fuck wouldn't call anything like that good. It was one of the most uncomfortable scenes I've ever witnessed. Our Gen1!Megatron did not deserve that. )
Souls aren't ephemeral here. As the show that introduced the concept of Sparks, the tangible soul of a Transformer, that means that they have tangible consequences. And as a show that also shows that affecting things in the past, will actively alter the future and records of things...
That means that Time did not, in fact, go back to normal once the Maximals and Predacons were done. Their Cybertron might've been okay, given the Vok explosion quantum wave magic deally, but that doesn't mean Time was.
Meaning that the Autobot-Decepticon war that occurred after BW, still went very differently.
You gotta be kidding me if you think Megs, our Gen1 Megatron, came out of that at all okay.
Especially with the Ghost of Starscream screaming about.
Or the anomaly that is Dinobot 2, running around, given that his half a spark is indestructible and an exploding ship would absolutely not kill him. Meaning that there's an immortal buried Dinobot somewhere on Earth...
THE VOK
There's no real in-show explanation for them. There's a lot of writer's intent-- From the decendant evolution of the Gen2 Swarm, to a doctor-who comparable "End of Universe" species, to yet another origin of transformers (I wonder what the Quintessons think), to effectively prototyping what would narratively be called the Allspark (and thus the origin of sparks).
From what can be gathered in-show... The Vok exist outside of Spacetime (They can bend both space and time). They can seed Energon, a feat not even Transformers can perform. They, by accident, caused the Transmetal phenomena (Which, in non earth Formers, causes their altmodes and organic bits to mix wtih their metal bits, and in unawakened earth-formers, combines more than one animal in an altmode... and does little to nothing to those who have already awoken (Unless you are in a healing pool or space, like Waspinator or Rhinox. Meaning that Transmetal is rejected by a healing pod...)).
They set up tests that would be, by human standards, impossible and deadly. Completed only by a Transformer, and yet, Transformers are considered the intruders.
Taking into context Gen1's cartoon, the Vok seem to be a counterpoint to Unicron. Instead of consuming, they sow, and instead of destruction, they create; with a narrative similarity of taking preknown character(s) (Megatron | Tigertron, Airrazor) and reformating them into a servant ( Galvatron | Tigerhawk ).
By this inshow and in series logic... the Vok are basically kin to Unicron and Cybertron, and their purpose appears to be to create cyber-lifeforms out of organics, and may have even been the reason why Cybertron is now a metal planet (when at its core mantel, there is organics and dirt... they might even be responsible for the Transorganics. )
BEAST MACHINES
... Didn't happen. Sorry, the level of contrivance that would be required for that show to be a sequel to this one, would immediately regulate to Realm of Fanfiction.
And I don't do "But its a sequel because they said it was! Its on the TV so it must be a sequel!"
If anything, it'd make more sense for Beast Machines to be a sequel to Gen 1, and a prequel to Beast Wars, as a way to show off what a wasteland Cybertron was like after Decepticons and Unicron and Quintessons, and how it led into the era of Maximals and Predacons.
You'd need an entirely new cast of characters, of course. And come on, at least one of the core cast would need to be Ravage, and prolly a female autobot as they were stationed on Cybertron (maybe Rattrap's grandmammy), throw in the original Waspinator (just as much of a loser like his descendant), add a dash of Shockwave being the Main Villain (especially if it confirmed that he did die to Unicron, but backed his core consciousness up in Vector Sigma as a last ditch Frag You to the Autobots--that would make all the sparkless vehicons, with the Vehicon Generals being captured reformated Autobots.. maybe even those who died in the battle of Autobot City! ), Mix it up with maybe Nightbird partnered with Carly (in secret of course) because she's searching for what happened to Spike and Daniel (Spike is stuck on Nebulos with Chromedome, and Daniel is locked in Arcee's head)...
Aaaaand we go from there.
But other than that? Nah. The set up is all wrong, its not the original writers, the tone is wrong, the way it treats the characters is abysmal, and its filled with Hasbro Meddling.
Beast Machines is just shiny, budgeted fanfiction, created by those who only had an inkling of what Beast Wars was about.
