GRL Mobile: The now defunct female focused mobile brand surfaced about 10 years ago, creates by Michele Hamdorf. GRL was a sister network to Vodaphone. There is hardly any information available about it these days. I found a article on the Sydney Morning Herald that was published July 1, 2008 and an archive website with details of mobile plans that were once available. Surprisingly, the National Libary of Australia doesn't have their original website in their archive (www.grlmobile.com).
It is hard to pin point when exactly the company finished up. The content available on youtube via their abandoned youtube page (courtesy of this video) is positive, exciting, full of potential. The early two thousands was a strange time. To have your own mobile wasn't the most necessary accessory to High Schoolers yet. Perhaps this was the downfall.
Their advertising focused on making mobiles a must have fashion accessory, complimented by clothing and jewellery and a Angelina Jole (Tomb Raider) garter phone holder to have a hands free club experience.
Keep an eye out in this video for one of my fave 2000s #Neighbours stars Eloise Mignon who played Bridget Parker, also TV personality Corinne Grant known from The Glasshouse and skitHOUSE.
