Adoptive parents please stop with the adoption vlogs and social media coverage
I'm appalled that so many adoptive parents film adoption day videos or foster care videos with their adopted child or foster child in them for money and viewers. The title says adopted child or foster child or adoptive parent or foster parent over and over again. Examples.
"Adopted child gets a haircut"
"New placement of foster kid"
"Adoptive mom picks up adopted child"
"Meeting our adopted baby"
"Foster baby is coming"
"Thank goodness birth mom chose life. We adopted".
T-shirt that says adoptive parent or orphan or foster child. Their bio on social media says adoptive mom or foster mom or adoptive mom to 2 and birth mom to 3. Yikes. No. No. No.
Stop labeling adoptees and foster kids. Saying you're an adoptive mom to two and bio mom to three is insulting. Putting titles like adopted child in videos makes adoptees feel as if they don't belong. Videos about adoption and foster care need to be private. That's a very private moment.
Adoption isn't my identity. Stop making it your foster child's identity as a foster kid or adopted child's as an adoptee. We're more than adoptees. Foster kids are more than foster kids.
