I made some pretty dumb mistakes on this cycling trip. 🤦♀️ So here’s what NOT to do on your next outdoor adventure : 1. Don’t sleep in or take forever to get ready, because it might just mean hitting the trail at the hottest part of the day. (We tried biking the 6.3 mile Johnny Cash Art Trail in Folsom, CA...mid-day in 100° weather with no shade). 🙅♀️ 2. Don’t go without a plan. Know the trail you’re about to head out on — as in, do your research ahead of time. All I knew was this : my friend asked me “Hey, you wanna go biking in Folsom?” And I said “Yaaass!”. I didn’t know what trail or how long or what it’d be like. Those were my first mistakes... 3. Don’t wear the wrong clothing. Again, since I didn’t know what we were biking or for how long, I wore jean shorts. JEAN. Nuff said. (I now have proper bike shorts for future adventures). 4. Always bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need. Because of all these mistakes and the hot as he!! temps, we turned around, went back to the car, and got @nekterfolsom cold brew smoothies instead. 😂 We DO plan on redoing this loop the RIGHT way, some other time. (Once it gets cooler and our air quality gets better here in the Sacramento area). 🔥 So I’ll eventually be putting together a guide (and yes, I’ll include where to get those smoothies too). . . #visitfolsom #folsomcalifornia #folsomlake #visitcalifornia (at Folsom, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE42_xgAZiU/?igshid=1oxipec47xkle
