#vision issues

I'm getting the right lens adjusted to add a prism lens, so I've been wearing my old glasses for over a week now. And the prescription is out of date, my astigmatism isn't properly accounted for, and there's worse glare with these lenses-- all an awful recipe for migraine central.

And I know once I get my glasses back I'll probably still be in migraine town for at least a few days as I adjust back to my current prescription. The astigmatism compensation is pretty severe, and I'm also nervous about adjusting to a prism lens for the first time

It's only a small prism adjustment (a +1 base out on the right lens only), but the test strips I looked through at the eye doc felt Good, so I'm trying to be optimistic.

Some Hours Later…

Have you ever waited a few years to get your prescription updated, and then once you do, the eye doctor-- without telling you-- decides to not give you the full strength of your prescription in one eye?

I have had this happen once before, and I believe it's happening again. The first time it happened I was like 18 and I felt lopsided for a fucking week before going back in. The eye doc explained that she did it because the prescription in that eye had changed significantly, and she didn't want to overwhelm me with such a big change.

Which-- cool in theory. But 1. She didn't fucking tell me she was doing this at all. 2. I have a history of being Extremely Paranoid about the state of my vision, and having an imbalance in the clarity of my eyes is not something that flies.

I thought this was a one-time fluke because it seems like such a stupid practice to do this, especially without patient consent. Yet here I am, having just ordered a pair of glasses with my new prescription. And I feel off balanced in exactly the same way as when I was 18 and my eye doc (a different eye doc) nerfed my prescription.

There's a chance the prescription is off for a different reason, but just the amount that it's off, and the similar feeling to last time, has me feeling like this is just a repeat occasion. I'm planning to call them tomorrow and see about getting rechecked, and asking if they altered the prescription at all without telling me. In the meantime, gonna swap back to wearing my old glasses since I'm pretty sure I'll need to return this new pair.
