Virtual Storytime
We have greatly missed our time at the library with Miss Kasey and other little friends. Often times, storytime is a chance to leave our child speak head voices behind for a moment of grown up conversation. The little ones get to socialize with others in somewhat of a pre - preschool setting. Of course, we get to find a slew of amazing books to enjoy for a few weeks! COVID has made this experience quite different. Although we can now visit the library, we certainly miss the play aspect (as toys are put away) and the lively decor. In the meantime, Miss Kasey has begun a virtual storytime which has been a great success!! To get the kids in the mode, we pull up a cozy chair, snacks and blankies for the girls to really hone in on the experience. They have their own song cube that Miss Kasey provided so that they can still engage in tossing the cube and sharing the song they landed on to sing with one another. We’re able “see” and say hello to our library friends and catch up a bit. It’s not the same but we are greatly appreciative for how it has played out and we look forward to it weekly. We also have enjoyed the accompanying printable crafts that have prompted us to do some extended projects!
I suppose we are all trying to find ways to enjoy the old under the current circumstances. Sometimes that whole idea is messy, frustrating, seemingly useless and sometimes it is pleasant, worthwhile and simply makes you smile. I’ll take some joy any day!
