Wrt Bruce saying "let the Riddler be the Riddler" in Batman: Universe and your tags about Selina saying Bruce has rules only he bothers to follow - I'm also reminded of the end of Fear State, where Bruce stops on the way to turning Scarecrow in just to return his mask to him because Jonathan said he feels naked without it.
I haven't read Fear State, but I think Bruce is periodically characterized as being pretty indulgent of other people's neuroses and psychopathologies. You could look at that as him humoring them, but 'playing by the rules' is a more interesting takeβit makes sense with his own bag of issues as someone who takes comfort in order and empiricism, but is also very empathetic and prone to being irrational. The line really popped for me.
