no hate to Paul McCartney but I kind of wish his interviews were less concerned with painting John out to be a continuously great guy and playing down the different fallouts the Beatles had. After Lennon’s death he feels like he has to defend him for all of his poor behavior, but it just gives us a more unreliable story of their friendship.
on the flip side, specifically in Yoko Ono and Lennon’s 1980 playboy interview, John seems to act as though being friends with the other Beatles was at worst a miserable experience, at best an hardly noteworthy period of his life. He gets pretty mean too, disparaging Paul’s songwriting and writing George and Ringo off as being non-vital members of the band.
Listening to Paul talk you’d think that he and lennon were never really upset with each other, while listening to John talk you’d think they never were really close
from what I’ve seen I feel like George gives the least skewed perspective on the band’s relationships. I haven’t seen enough Ringo interviews to judge his
obviously nobody can know what went down as well as the Beatles themselves, but its hard to avoid noticing the divide between Paul and John’s perspectives
i thought my lennon art would flop thank you all for being as beatlespilled as I am right now
reacting to my text with a Purple Heart emoji got me feeling like I just emerged from war with honors
Life is so beautiful…I told my guitar teacher I was listening to some Beatles stuff so he taught me the record accurate ways to play in my life, twist and shout, AND til there was you. he told me some Beatles stories and we talked about how their music is still so impactful after all this time it was so much fun
