Another pretty alright collection of short films. I liked the wrap-around being a mostly comedic-in-tone stop motion home movie thing with little plastic soldiers. That was pretty amusing and I wish it was a bit more prominent overall.
Shredding had a neat concept and payoff, but the content in between was kinda middling and fell into the same sort of style as earlier VHS shorts, where you just watch a bunch of jerks mingle about until something spooky happens. I like the turn of the century grungy band stuff though, that's charming.
Suicide Bid was underwhelming, the whole concept for the nasty ghost didn't even really make sense to me (why would she prey upon a girl who fell into the same bullying trap that she did?), but I can at least see how the core idea of having the POV for being buried alive leads to a claustrophobic horror experience.
Ozzy's Dungeon was again, interesting in concept, being themed around a Legends of the Hidden Temple-esque game show, and the beginning and conclusion were where the short was at its strongest. The middle was a bit boring after the initial shock wore off though.
The Gawkers felt like one of the earlier VHS shorts again, which I wouldn't have much else to comment on, though the monster they ended up going with was pretty unique at least. Can't say I've seen that used in many other recent horror projects.
To Hell and Back was definitely the strongest of this set and maybe one of my favorite shorts in the VHS series as a whole. Not only was the set and creature design for Hell very well done, it was always pretty amusing and comedic with just how hammy and non-seriously the two focal characters were written. It was an enjoyable ride and the ending had me smiling as well.
