Spider Cherub - Caves of Qud
"Dials tick and vacuum tubes mantle under synthetic chitin and inside plastic joints. eightfold gams, hundred lenses, and ageless bearing are wrought from a vast and furcate machinery into the ideal form of the spider. By the artistry of its construction, it closely resembles its referent, but an exposed cog here and an exhaust valve there betray the truth of its nature. Its movements are short and mimetic; it inhabits the valley between the mountains of life and imagination."
The idealized form of a spider, created by the Sultanate to guard the sarcophagus and reliquary of a Sultan who favoured the arachnid faction (as in, arachnids as a whole count as such, you can have reputation with them that affects random cave spiders and the like). Seemingly the Sultanate's ideal spider has a distinct head and a more insect-like body plan. Literally unplayable, smh my head.
The Tomb of Eaters is a rather late-game area, and the cherubim are very powerful creatures by default, and have a special trait associated with the Sultan they protect the tomb of. I spawned these in with commands so they lack such modifiers but usually they get a different colour scheme based on the modifier.
Sultans from the 4th period and onward instead have weaker, mechanical cherubim, representing the gradual decline of the Sultanate.
(Cherubs all share the same description save for some keywords so the quote here is for the mechanical version. The Insect Cherub post already has the base one.)
