Long time no seen

It’s been a while, and still, as I wrote in my last post everything feels so strange.

The newest rules here in Slovakia are that we’re in a total lockdown during the Easter holidays, so I’ve been sitting home since the 8th, and will remain seated on my ass at home until Tuesday, so thank god it’s only 2 days left.

Anyways, I have to say that I really didn’t plan to study today but I was soooo bored, and the only thing I can do is to study right now. Why? Because I have been renovating, cleaning and basically doing a lot of unnecessary stuff.

However, as I said I decided to do some work today and to begin with I was so freaking frustrated. The assignment we have is from a course named “Nurition and animal feeding” and a lot of different types of calculations are included. So I ref through the assignment, and did literally not understand a thing. It took me like 5-6 times to read through it to actually understand what formulas to use and what to do. To be fair it wasn’t that difficult but it was a lot, so it took me like almost two hours to calculate. But now it’s finally finished and hopefully correct👏🏻

Also, you’re maybe wondering why there’s an empty document on the screen? As we’re having online studies we have to send it to our professor as a protocol, kind of, so I have to put all the calculations into tables (probably the easiest way) and send it. I will probably do that tomorrow, but that’s the easy part. The hard work is already done.

Simple stomach of a horse and complex stomach of a ruminant (or ruminator as our professor would says😁)

We’re going thorugh the cardiovascular system, and this weeks topics was/is the Abdominal aorta including Venae Portae & Venae Cavae Caudalis

Otherwise; I haven’t really had time to post anything as I was sick and studied very very little. With other words I’ve been mostly laying in my bed watching movies drinking tea and eating antibiotics 🤒. Hopefully by the end of the week I’ll be back 100% whoop!

Didn’t manage to pass my chemistry exam, which made me so demotivated and everything just turned from “you can do this” to “f*ck it, I’m done”. I’ve never been this disappointed when it comes to school, and I didn’t even know that I could be as disappointed as I was on Wednesday.

All the hard work didn’t pay off at the moment as I sat there and got my results...I was pretty close, but of course “pretty close” is not enough, a fail is a fail no matter how close you are.

I realised during the past few days that I have to stop being frustrated, sad, disappointed and mad and everything that comes with that, because it won’t help me in any way. Event though I told myself that all the work didn’t pay off...it did, I don’t think that I’ve ever been studying this much for an exam and that I learned as much as I did. I know, it sound wired because I failed, but to be honest...: I’ve never had chemistry before in my life, and I don’t have the basics as other people do, and I’ve managed to learn a lot of them and also other things that will probably help me in other subjects. It’s not an excuse, I failed because I didn’t know enough. But it is just a fact.

I’m still disappointed but life goes on. I have to study more which I have done and hoepfully I’ll be successful next time.

Remember that; if it would be easy it would not be fun, and in the and we would not appreciate it as much as we will.

DAY 5/12 of productivity

Really unproductive day today study wise as I basically didn’t go through any new questions. BUT! I had consultations with my Biochem professor, as I needed help with some things that was a bit unclear, and had some question. She’s wonderful and she explained a lot and a bit more, so I’m really thankful for that because a lot of things makes so much more sense now.

I think that the opportunity we have at our uni (that probably many schools have) to go and basically have kind of a “mini-lecture” with our professors about things you personally don’t understand are awesome.

I know that many people are afraid to ask for help when it comes to the professors. This due to the fact that students think that professors will see them as bad students if they don’t understand something. But it’s definitely the other way around. I think that the professors appreciate the fact that the student comes and asks questions and actually gets a proper answear and learn something. I mean, that’s why we have professors teaching us stuff, right? They are there because they want us to learn something.

In conclusion, my point is that; it is always better to ask for help rather than sitting in the exam and don’t know what to say or write only because you’re to “stubborn” or afraid of asking.

You gotta treat yourself after exams.

Went out with some friends to celebrate only one exam left during this exam period as I passed my genetics exam today 🧬 . After almost a month of being loced in a room full of chemistry books and genetic notes, I finally got to socialise a bit with my amazing friends❤️

Don’t forget to treat yourself, it doesn’t mean that you have to get drunk. But we’re in Slovakia so that’s a bit different ;)

Have fun, study, but don’t forget that you’re a student and that the student life won’t last forever. I have 4,5 years left so woho!
