This little rat gentleman is showing us his cryptorchidism! Cryptorchidism is when a male animal's testicles don't migrate from the abdomen to the scrotum at the appropriate time. It can sometimes lead to complications like the formation of tumors. He was part of an "Oops. I accidentally bred several dozen animals I don't want" intake at the shelter in Evansville, IN. They asked us to take him and his Sneezy brother. We figured they'd be easy to adopt if their health stuff resolved fine, but they were adopted the moment I sent this video to the lead surgery tech at the clinic! Today he and his brother were neutered successfully , and this little guy got the name Cashew! The other animals I took yesterday have also done pretty well. Bolivia got the infection on her stump reshaped with a new treatment plan. Newton recovered all right from his cardiac arrest. Hans had his first dental check up, and his teeth look good for now. Fidget had his troublesome incisors removed! My situation isn’t ideal but hoping that I can get some help to get to where I need to be again. Life has been throwing me quite a mix of challenges this year.

Esther got her ultrasound today! Weird news. Her bladder has a bit of a partial septum partially separating her bladder into two chambers. AND THEN one of those chambers has a thin-walled diverticulum on it. A diverticulum is kind of like a balloon shaped pocket on the outside of an organ's wall with a smallish opening that goes into the organ. That diverticulum does not have much muscle on the outside of it like the rest of the bladder. This is likely why she can't empty her bladder completely when she pees. It just can't squeeze itself like the rest of the bladder does. We also got a new sterile sample of urine for culture to see what bacteria might be in there. She got a long-lasting pain med injection. And her bladder was flushed with topical gentamicin. On Monday she will have surgery two attempts to resection the diverticulum portion of her bladder to create a more appropriate shape. The recovery may be pretty awful, so there will be a lot of nursing and TLC at home after. Hello! Erin here with Trudy! 💕💕💕 Trudy had her first vet visit today! Thank you @serranoanimalandbird for all your love you give my hams. ❤️ Okay so To catch you all up, Trudy who lives with Erin and Winnie who lives with Tony have Hydrocephalus. They are pet store animals that are bred from rodent mills. This type of hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) is 100% passed on to all offspring and do not always exhibit the characteristics like Trudy and Winnie do of a shorter snout, domed skull and bulging eyes. And in 50% of the cases, no teeth or they are brittle and broken. 🐹 okay so back to Trudy’s Vet visit. She will get steroids to and see if that calms her down a bit. It should help with the pressure feeling she’s probably having. The dr spent a lot of time observing her for any other neurological issues and we watched her fall asleep. Mind you she’s a crier. Not a screamer but a crier. She cries just like a baby hamster and it’s sad but adorable all at the same time. Needless to say, she gets to keep her one toof. Trudy is back home sleeping on her #borkbox . In other news , we did try to do a sonogram on Sansa and Ganaches bellies to see if the babies would show up and as you might if guessed.... they were very squirmy! Sansa looked like she had some bbz and with Ganache not as far along as Sansa, some signs were there that age was pregnant.
