Anton Domenico Gabbiani (Italian, 1652 - 1726) Saint Januarius Saving Naples from an Eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. (1724)
Can you explain a bit about the ves timeloop? I'm interested 👀
YES OKAY SO this happens in the original Jojo setting where he comes from (as opposed to the new World of Darkness campaign where a very very different version of him lives). It happens post-canon, under the presumption Ves reunited with Giorno after Giorno became boss of Passione.
The short version is- one of Ves's partners, Ori, in a classic move of Ori Hubris/Fucking Around and Finding Out, got his hands on the Requiem Arrow. [Giorno MAY have allowed this to happen under his nose as part of his curiosity about the stand arrow- he doesn't fully remember what Gold Experience Requiem was capable of, after all! But he'll never tell Ves that.] Ori's stand, called Glitch Mob, upon being Requiem'd, decides it's had enough of how Ori is running things, and assumes control of Ori's body. Unfortunately, it doesn't care about his human needs or limits, so it runs a very real risk of killing him in the process.
Ves begs Giorno for a chance to stop Ori and save him before Giorno is forced to put him down like a rabid animal, and in the process of doing so, he cuts his hand on the Stand arrow. This awakens Ves's stand, Running Blue!
Running Blue works much like a save point in a video game. It's a vintage camera that can hold one photo on its internal glass plate, and can take Ves back in time to the moment that photo was taken. Thus begins Ves essentially save-scumming his way through trying to save Ori, brute force trying over and over and over and over and over and over again (frequently with either him or Ori winding up mortally wounded in the process) until Ves finally, finally finds a way to save him! Time loop!
