I’m sitting here thinking about lance and his sister and how veronica earned a seat at the big table and then later as atlas operator.

we know she’s strategic, intelligent and skilled and we saw her fitting in different groups naturally and quickly, we saw first hand her natural charisma with new members.

and we know that she’s older than lance and probably the first one in the family to get into the garrison.

so I’m thinking what if lance’s insecurities started as early as he can remember, in his home. he probably looked up to her, right? but what if, growing up, he was constantly compared to her since they both share similar dreams and goals. compared to her by his family members and then later by teachers.

what if his self doubt always existed because of him comparing himself to his sister and then amplified by him comparing himself to keith.

and that he just finds himself constantly walking out from being in one person’s shadow to standing in another’s.

I mean don’t get me wrong (this is not an abusive situation) the love is still there obviously, but what if lance resented her for setting the bar so high so early in their lives? wouldn’t it be fun if their relationship had depth? idk. I like to think that it is.

and I like to think that lance hates that after everything he went through, she turned out accomplished and he, proving everyone’s speculations and expectations of him right, ended up living with his family, working on their farm and not accomplishing any of the dreams his younger self once was motivated by.

also it would be funny if he didn’t want her to get together with keith because that’s just his worst nightmare combo. not just because he is jealous and wants keith to himself
