Vireoโs Vigil
Iโd planned to break with precedent and take advantage of the cool morning air to trim the grass. But instead, Charlieโmy dogโand I ended up just sitting in the backyard, watching the birds.
Fortunately, we began our vigil just in time: a yellow-throated vireo (Vireo flavifrons) paid us a visit. Iโve heard their songs in the mornings, so I knew they were around, but this was the first time Iโd actually seen one. Iโve photographed their white-eyed cousins a few times, but this moment felt like a quiet little gift.
Step into a world where even the smallest momentsโlike the glint in a bird's eyeโtell their own story.
