Velen isn't all swamp and decay. It's actually beautiful if you know where to look.

The Crones of Crookback Bog will always have a special place in my nightmares 😌 They are a horrifying and grotesque Trinity that seems to be a “faith” that doesn’t extend beyond Velen. That is not to say other religions aren’t practiced there as Tamara has demonstrated the Church of the Eternal Fire has begun to encroach in the region and Verna is another Pantheon of the region. Melitele is the most well known pantheon as well as the most well known Trinity of the continent, but it isn’t really seen in Velen. And the more we play the game the more we find out about a much older local figure who is referred to by many names but "The Mother" is her more defining name. She, like the Crones, is tied to the land and as a result neither can extend her influence beyond Velen. Their origins are never clearly defined and that might be part of what makes them so horrifying in addition to the phenomenal design.
