the love series, i: when loving you is (easy).
“And now for today and tonight’s incoming forecast.”
The camera pans over west, allowing her shoulders to finally take rest, and her lips to relax. The news forecaster speaking only a few meters away from her flickers in and out, but she manages to catch the important bit amongst it all, immediately finding her phone off set and texting.
[SMS: 서방님] i know you’re probably still half asleep when you’re reading this... but open your eyes real wide to read it! [SMS] don’t forget a jacket before you head out! It’s warm now but it’ll get cold later. [SMS] winter is coming... which means christmas is coming... °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖° [SMS] your lunch and dinner is in the fridge! don’t forget a jacket! or i’ll have to have a whole round of i told you so’s when i see you! [SMS] i love you, you’re the most handsome man even today (^▽^) /
He comes in through the door sixteen hours later, face reddened and fingers still and hardly moving -- body definitely without a jacket.
“Home... warm home... warm Jina...” His voice holds the kind of tone he uses only in these kinds of nights -- times when he needs more than just his face on his side, just to spare him even a bit of subtle, quiet wrath. “...let me hold my warm Jina...”
Her eyes peek over her puzzle but only for a second, and he notices it immediately, all too easy.
“I’m almost close to being a living, frozen artifact from this November Seoul weather, and my wife won’t even give me a single hug?” His chest drops with his exhaustive gasp, and she withholds a laugh, and a snort escapes instead. Her eyes still hold steady to the puzzle she fits into the corner, attention to the table. “Jack was right... marriage is a scam.” He lets himself onto the couch, his whole body falling onto it together, dramatic and too Joel.
She makes the mistake of meeting his eyes and more so, his jutted out lip and throws up the white flag.
“Oh, come here.” She holds out a hand, fingers folding then unfolding in a firm gesture for him to move. “Come on, Joel. Come on over here, lazy bum.” It’s only when she crosses her arms over his chest, then gives him the look that he slinks himself up from the couch, with a low groan all the five feet towards her, nevertheless.
Without her even asking, he slips right into her arms, and she soon does the same, pressing right up against him: him holding her, her holding him, everything too thoughtless.
“Your lazy bum.”
She hears him hum and it’s the cue for her to tuck her chin over his right shoulder, before she turns her head to press her lips against his neck. She only moves away when her warmth radiates him, when she seems to finally surround his space of being.
“Mmm.”
“Hm?” She doesn’t see him, but she hears the smile in his voice. In her head, she’s already drawing his face out: the way his smile starts at the corner, and widens into the lines of his face only to sink in for a long second, all too easily.
“Suddenly... it’s like... my cold day is melting through you. Because of you.”
This time, she’s the one smiling, except the laugh following it overpowers. Her chest moves up and down with her, causing the same to him. Soon enough, it’s their laughter filling the room and everything else seems to cease in taking up even the slightest of space. “What a big, whole cheeseball.”
“Your big, whole, and handsome cheeseball.” He pulls her back in and their lips meet, only to linger even after the kiss. She feels his smile against her own, and soon she feels his smile amongst her skin, and it’s a feeling she’s never tired of.
“I love you.” When he speaks it, it’s second nature. Mindlessly done.
Naturally and mindlessly, and above all else, all too easily -- she responds the same.
“I love you too.”
I can say that loving you is easy / I don't need to prove a single thing @velchor, (easy by mac ayres)
