Blue is the color of the Upside Down, and sadness (many of fans think that blue is Mike's color)

Eleven story is full of sadness. To be taken away from your mother, to live your whole life in ignorance of your own identity, and later to be used as a weapon many times is truly terrible. It is the fact that she has been out of society for so long that makes her subsequent story very difficult. The problems of socialization overtake many of us, but it is even more difficult for those who find themselves alienated at such an early age. In season 4, when she was trying to live a normal life, go to school and make new friends, she failed, and it caused a lot of pain, which caused her nature to spill out. All her life, she was somewhere beyond the boundaries - beyond the ordinary world, beyond morality, good and evil, and beyond the capabilities of an ordinary person. She's completely different.

That's why she created the Upside Down - this is her world, where she can safely exist alone. The sad truth.

Why Mike is blue-coded too? He's never been there, which is a bit strange considering that I'm talking about his connection to the Upside Down. But this is not accidental. He turned out to be the savior from this world. A savior for those who got caught on the Wrong Side. Will, and in the future Holly, also found their salvation in Mike, who tried to do everything to heal them.

Red is the color of blood, of anger. The color of the Vecna. The color of pure energy from the Upside Down. The color of the portals.

Red is the color of blood. Something that haunts Vecna throughout his life. Since childhood, he had been a murderer, and since childhood he had been accompanied by anger and suffering, which he thought came from the people around him. And in this regard, their fate is very similar to the fate of Eleven. Her world is also made up of pain and blood - she's also a murderer from an early age (why didn't any of her friends even think about it???), she's also been treated badly, perhaps even worse than Henry, because we've never seen him bullied by his peers. Her moral compass went astray, but it went astray precisely after the penetration of red Henry's thoughts into her blue world - that's why she turned purple. She is unsuitable for this world, for a world where sadness is in store for her, and for where Henry has decided to hide, in a world of aggression. Eleven, before meeting the First, chose to be sad, and Henry was very cruel from the very beginning.

The red lightning bolts on the Upside Down symbolize the anger that Vecna brought to this world. If they hadn't touched when Eleven was in her "search mode" in season 1, then this world wouldn't exist. They both belong to it, but due to the fact that she is the creator, the main matter and color there is blue.

Purple is the color of Eleven. The color of otherness. It symbolizes her non-belonging to any of the worlds.

Summarizing all of the above, we can say that purple is exactly her color. The color that arose from the fusion of blue with red. The color of another world, not belonging to the world of anger and the world of sadness. She is both, which is why it is so difficult for her to figure out who she is. But something tells me that the things that happened to her in the past, and the decisions she made, can block her entrance to the world of ordinary people? Henry understood this - he understood that society is very strict and consists of rules that everyone must follow. Eleven has already violated them many times.

It's also interesting that lost sister Eleven - Kali - has purple hair in season 3. Does it make sense?… We'll find out very soon.

Yellow s the color of Will and the World of Vecna (I don't know what to call it correctly; many people are talking about World X, but we haven't been shown this yet, so I'll stick to my guesses). Also, particles of yellow light appear Upside Down when any living being is near electrical devices that emit light.

In season 4, Mike brings El flowers from Hawkins, yellow in color. I associate this with the feeling of a lost home. Not only is El's favorite color yellow, which is her opposite, but it's also important that it's Will's color. It was Will's feelings that received a lot of attention, his struggles and attempts to find himself in all this. This bouquet, in my opinion, symbolizes love that was addressed to the wrong person. That's why Mike is so confused, and adds purple so that the bouquet at least a little represents his love for El, because "something is wrong here, too much yellow."

Yellow is a friendly enough color. It's just my feeling, but I can't find a better word than friendly - he's not trying to be your friend, he's just… He behaves like a good guy. I would say that there is a lot of yellow in Vecna's house. There's a lot of him in my memories. But yellow can go from being friendly to being alarming. It's not a danger yet, but it can be. Something is definitely wrong here.

Since Will and Vecna from the past/memories are very connected, it's interesting how the creators added meaning to all this in colors. Vecna sees herself in Will, and Will sees Vecna in himself. They're definitely held together by something invisible, and I don't think it's just about what happened in season 1.

Looking at the opposite colors, it is also worth considering which characters can be opposed to them. El and Will are the most important examples that I would like to highlight. The wrong side was created by Eleven, and when Will found himself in it, he suffered a lot. This is not where he should be. He and the blue world, which was created by violet El, are incompatible. And it's the same with El - she suffers all the time in the ordinary world, but because of the friendly tone of the whole place, she finds salvation here for a while. I guess I'll remember here that we also have an orange color - and it's like a fusion of red and yellow, i.e. the color of Callifornia (I don't know where I got this association from, I've never been there, but remembering the scenes from the movie, for some reason, I see it in orange), where it was It's too bad, and there's also a lot to say that she won't actually be able to live in peace in this place.

But what about green?…

I've been thinking for a long time about what exactly this color symbolizes. Because we see different shades of him just everywhere - at Hawkins, in the laboratory, he is clearly connected with Dr. Brenner, but still not completely. Green is the combined color of blue and yellow, which may hint at the dual nature of the states in which the characters find themselves in these places. In green places, something ordinary can happen, like life, but there can also be danger here. It's also sometimes a place where Will and El can't exist together - while one is at Hawkins, the other has disappeared (yes, they're always at Hawkins, at least during the first 3 seasons, but they don't appear on screen very often). When Will went missing, Eleven escaped from the lab. When she went Upside Down and "disappeared" (began to live with Hopper), they found Will. When he starts having visions and ends up in the lab, Eleven shows up at Hop's doorstep to meet her friends. They didn't have much contact in season 3, but it's clear that when Eleven is good with Mike, Will feels a little lost in this situation. When they leave for California, they get closer, but they are no longer in the "green" zone (orange theoryyyy). There's a hell of a lot going on in season 5, but I also tend to believe my theory - in green, when Eleven is in trouble, Will's story picks up steam.

So, what's my predictions for the final series?

In the end, Eleven will be in the Upside Down and close the gates on the other side. Or she live be dead for some reason - probably to save her friend. She can't exist in the upper world, but Vecna isn't so good to chat with, so I think Upside Down is not for her either.

Will will leave Hawkins and live "happily ever after." I really hope that it will be with Mike, because that's exactly what the whole story leads to (let me remind you of the very scene with Mike and El talking on the roof of WSQK, where she shows with all her appearance that his vision of the future is not quite suitable for her; or she just does not believe that she can survive this the battle + remember that Will was better off outside of Hawkins in season 4.). But Will, he really wants to live. He wants to get to know himself, do what he loves, and communicate with his friends. Eleven's only goal is to catch Vecna and vanish him. I think that's what the "best ending" will be for her. She will achieve everything she can and wants.

I think it's clear to everyone that Vecna is going to die. Or at least he won't appear in the ordinary world anymore. His plan, which I plan to talk about in future posts, will be impossible to put into action, and therefore, he can only crumble into the shadows.
